The Bishop. For whom I might suggest adding "Light My Candle" from Rent.

The world can never get enough Gavroche as far as I'm concerned.

Um, how the frick is Cosette not an option? She's the least developed character in the show.

Enjorlas?

Personally, I think Madame Thenardier needs a rap number, and they should bring in that "slushy in the face" guy to write it, to make sure it's edgy and not embarassing, like that hack Sondheim's was.

Obviously, I have to vote for one of the two options cut off at the bottom simply because they are the underdogs. But I don't know which one to pick. Or who they are. But they deserve it.

Or how about Fauchelevent? We really don't know enough about him.

Enjolras clearly NEEDS to be modernized for shallow modern audiences who need more than just the lame ol' "cause" so flailed about in the egregious 1985 stage musi-cale.

It's all about aesthetics in this day and age and Enjolras clearly needs to tap dance his way into our hearts atop the barricade of freedom. It would also be the perfect excuse and set-up for a strategically placed wardrobe malfunction involving the hunk's 19th century French junk, which this forgotten synth reliant musi-cale comedy most DESPERATELY needs.

Previously when I glibly posted about a new song for the Bishop, I had no idea that Colm Wilkinson would be playing the role. Now that I know that he will (and what great stunt casting), I seriously think it's a good idea. (But not "Light My Candle")

Here's the thing. The show is already four years long.

They're going to have to cut about 10 songs easily, so why add one?

Oh, yeah ... for Oscar consideration as Best Original Song.

Can I just say? The CHARACTERS are fictional and therefore it is impossible they DESERVE anything. They only exist as written. They have no opportunity to 'deserve'.

I want a drunken gay love song from Grantaire sung to Enjolras as in the novel.

Why is Enjolras even on there? They don't even say his NAME in the musical, lol.

Cats I didn't remember that--not sure if they do though Wiki says they didn't originally but have since the symphonic recording (badly pronounced) for whatever that's worth...

Yes. In American productions it was always "Angel-rahssssss!" XD

Nothing beats the bastardization of "Don Juan" as sung by many a Grantaire with an English "j" sound.

The Mexican in me would quietly mouth to himself "Don HHHHH-uan!!!"

But I always followed Cammack's lead and went with "Lay Miz-eh-rob," which I'm sure caused many a French eye roll. Meh, guess we're even! New Poll: Which LES MIS Character Do You Think Deserves Another Song in the Film?

Yes, his name is not in the actual libretto, but is more often than not shouted at the beginning of the ABC Café.

"Nothing beats the bastardization of "Don Juan" as sung by many a Grantaire with an English "j" sound."

Isn't that part of the joke?

Nah.

The MUCH improved 25th anniversary concerto added this darkish (therefore, better), never before heard layer of accuracy and pronounced it correctly.

So, I doubt it.

"Nothing beats the bastardization of "Don Juan" as sung by many a Grantaire with an English "j" sound."

In all fairness, that's how Lord Byron (who wrote the Don Juan character) pronounced it.

Also, I think it's pronounced that way in parts of Spain.
