LJ yeh I know there is a whole post , but I think people are expecting book to be something like The Road or something . It is just a fun upbeat musical.

WHAT is the point of this?

You do realize this is based on Aristophane's Lysistrata, yes? While still a comedy...it's a bit more than just a fun, upbeat musical.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

It's whatever you want. Can just be a fun, upbeat musical or want can delve deeper to more meaning. Loved the show from both perspectives.

Wait, you're saying this ISN'T a musical adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's "The Road"?

Shame. They should really get on an adaptation, then.

Overheard during intermission at the Metropolitan Opera the other night:

"My son and daughter-in-law are seeing a new show called LISTERINE JONES. I can'w wait to hear what they think about it!"

I saw it for free (along with about 90% of the audience every night since it started previews) and I still hated it. It's offensively bad. There's a difference between "so bad it's good" and "so bad it's actually just bad." The whole "amateur writing for the sake of a laugh" concept just comes off as laziness. And it isn't even funny!

It saddens me there are so many great writers writing great musicals, and yet these guys somehow lucked out and got on Broadway? And not really even with a fresh idea.
