I'd go again in an instant. Break a leg to all who are involved! Thanks for a great show last Sunday.

Pretty mixed from the AP.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2011/11/10/entertainment/e163355S50.DTL

"His voice is like the show ¯ strong and sweet, but not terribly enlightening. His song interpretations are decidedly run-of-the-mill, straight down the middle, but nice. He works hard, stripping off his suit coat and then rolling up his sleeves, sweat stains visible. By the end, he's thanking his orchestra, high-fiving members of the audience and getting a standing ovation."

A RAVE from The Hollywood Reporter.

"He makes no claims to being the world¯s greatest singer or dancer. Jackman¯s voice leans toward the nasal side at times, but he compensates with tremendous power. And while his dance moves stick within a limited range, his energy and limberness go far beyond. Basically, he sells it, which in the age of the techno-spectacle, is something rare and magnetic. It¯s obvious that he¯s having a blast up there, and his enjoyment is contagious"

An "A-" from Entertainment Weekly:

"Not since Liza Minnelli's Liza's at the Palace nearly three years ago have we seen such command of the stage and repertoire by a solo artist."

"His crystalline baritone has surprising power and depth, but it's his relaxed yet commanding charisma that sets him apart. He banters between numbers, delivering self-deprecating quips about his life and career ('Wolverine would make a killing in this town as a mohel') and mixing it up with the audience (there's a good reason seats in the first row are reportedly reselling for as much as $1,500)."

A RAVE from Ben Brantley of the New York Times:

http://theater.nytimes.com/2011/11/11/theater/reviews/hugh-jackman-back-on-broadway-at-broadhurst-review.html

"But when he gets down to business, this dream date delivers. And even when he¯s grinding his hips before front-row patrons at eye level, you know that with Mr. Jackman there¯ll be no morning-after regrets or feelings of sleaziness. He is, in his gold lam¯ way, as perfect a gentleman as anyone your grandmother swooned over at the Roxy. You half expect him to send you (and everyone else in the theater) flowers the next day."

Positive from the Chicago Tribune:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/theater/theaterloop/sc-ent-1110-hugh-jackman-broadway-review-20111110,0,3336706.column

"Crucially, the 43-year-old star is doing his "Back on Broadway," which features the star, a small company of pretty female dancers and an onstage orchestra, in his prime. The genre has frequently been reserved for those past that moment. But not here. Jackson even uses his clout ¯ and clear dedication to his home country ¯ to bring out not just a predictable didgeridoo but also a group of Australian Aborigine performers."

A RAVE from Theatermania:

http://www.theatermania.com/broadway/reviews/11-2011/hugh-jackman-back-on-broadway_44368.html

"Jackman delivers a high-octane two-hour singing and dancing extravaganza and barely seems to break a sweat."

If it gets extended it can't be for too long since Hugh is on record saying that rehearsals for the Les Miserables movie are in January and February (filming in March).

God, at what point did Brantley and Isherwood completely forget how to write reviews that did not contain their psychosexual fantasies? All this "You half expect" Jackman to send flowers the next morning crap tells us nothing about the show, the performer, anybody but the reviewer. Projecting it onto "you," of course, because he can't own up to the fact that Hugh gives him a boner.

Mandy is an artist. He thought if he acted dressed-up, people would believe him.

Love this from the NY Times:

Q. Hugh Jackman will be performing his Broadway concert show at the same time as yours. Should he watch his back when he’s around you?

LUPONE No, I’d like to throw my underwear at him. Did you see “The Boy From Oz”? I wanted to throw my underpants at him at the end of the show.

PATINKIN I actually am wearing his underwear right now, as we speak. We have a very unique relationship.
