I've never been to the Lortel. Can someone describe the theater? Is the stage raised or floor-level? If it's raised, how high is it? Are the seats very stadium seated? Thanks for any help.

I was last at the Lortel for Reasons To Be Pretty. The stage is raised but it was not too high and it was a good distance from the front row (which is why I bought front row tickets.) I don't know if they will adjust the height of the stage or build it out, so I am hoping for the best.

I believe theatre is sloped so there is a slight stadium style to the seats. Its a tiny, tiny theatre.

Its a tiny theatre, but side lines are a little extreme in some instances. If you don't want to go for 'prime' seating prices, I would recommend doing standard Mezz, which is apparently everything other than the first row -- definitely is a lot better than far sides of the orchestra.

Bettyboy72 - thanks for your expertise! I'm very short and have trouble seeing over/past normal-heighted people, even when the theater is slightly stadium seated, so I like to sit front-row too.

I got A 107-108 for March 7 for Carrie, so I just hoped that the stage wasn't really high.

I also got B 2-4, which appears to be the 1st row on the house right side, on the aisle. I'm guessing that these are great seats too, since the theater is so small and they are not far off center. I just get a little stressed when it comes to ticket-buying!

MichaelBennett - is the front row house right on the aisle (B 2-4) too far to the side, in your opinion? I wasn't clear in my previous post; I have B 2-4 for WILD ANIMALS YOU SHOULD KNOW, not CARRIE. My other options were kind of further back and, as I previously mentioned, I can have a lot of trouble seeing over/through heads because of my height.

B2-4 should be great for Wild Animals. I was in D2-4 for Reasons To Be Pretty and it was great. Michael Bennett is right about the sides though. I kind of felt like anything other than side aisle seats and I would have been oddly far away and weirdly angled from the stage.

Given that the demand for this show will likely be higher than they're used to, I wonder if they'll open their mezzanine.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. AC, the mezzanine is open and being sold. I'm wondering if they will even need to mic Marin. I mean, the theatre is so small. If they mic her she might melt the walls. Then again, it is Carrie so maybe that would be appropriate.

I hope they mic Molly Ranson--I sat second row for JERUSALEM and didn't hear a word she said!

They'll be able to hear Marin at The Duplex.

I'm short and have had a really hard time seeing at the Lortel because the house is not very raked, so I always go for front row and the stage is never too hight. Actually, I'd take front row of their tiny mezz before I'd go back of orchestra or extreme sides, you can see and it's not far at all from the stage...

I notice that they haven't posted a closing date for the show (Cf. all their others).....hope they extend at least two weeks :P. Buy tickets pleaseeee.

I would try and sit as close as possible IMO. The new 'In" and Mazzie's facial expressions [at that recent preview] during "When There's No One" were thrilling in the second row!

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

I think if you sit 'too' close it will spoil some of the planned special effects. Honestly, you could sit in the last row and see the actors faces in extreme closeup. That's not really the issue with the Lortel. It just has extreme side view issues

Will the front row be the splatter zone? lol

I sure hope that there will be enough actual staging in the Destruction to justify it.
