I've tried. Boy how I have tried and I just don't like it. To make things worse, it seems as if I am the only one.

I do like it myself, but I think you'll find you are far from in a minority.

Words cannot begin to describe my hatred for this show. You are not alone!

Oh thank God. You've no idea the nasty things people on here have said to me for not liking it. Just like when I said I didn't like RENT.

The crappy part is that some of the people (Matt Morrison and Lea) I like prior to the show. Now I just have a hard time seeing them as anything else. For even though I don't watch the show, there isn't a day goes by where I don't see dozens upon dozens of commercials and ad's.

Sure, if you're visiting GleekCentralFinchelWemma4EvaAndEva.com you're not gonna see much criticism, but most TV critics have been very down on the show, noting a decline since the initial 13 episode order, which were all made before it became a phenomenon. Last season was really off the rails, and the premiere this year was pretty down in the ratings. If it stays like this, there'll probably be a 4th season, but not much after that.

Personally, I thought the first episode was promising for the season, and I'm glad they FINALLY hired some writers who might bring in a bit more consistency, although it may be too late to undo the damage.

For now, hold out hope for Smash in midseason. And the *possible* Glee spinoff that might actually be kind of ok, since it won't have 50 regular cast members to service.

I am extremely in love with the entire first season, but now I just love/like the show. Honestly, not as much as the first season, but I still enjoy the show and have a majority of the songs on my iPod. It has some good moments in some of the season two/(and even) three episode(s), just wish it was more often.

Everyone thinks that because I am a Broadway fan I should love Glee... I don't love Glee BECAUSE I am a Broadway fan. I can't stand what they have done to some of my favorite songs.

Eventually someone will come into this thread and pontificate how wonderful the show is and how you just don't get it, and how it doesn't matter that it's autotuned and that there's something deficient in your soul because you believe a weekly tv show should at least adhere to its own conventions if not to any other conventions of storytelling. They will be wrong.

I'm kinda put out by that whole "Glee is good because it brings kids to Broadway" argument. The bottom linen is that it still a bad show, and I don't think there is substantial evidence to prove that argument.

Season 2 really sent the show down the toilet due to its BAD writing and directing.

Pontificate! I love that word.

Everyone assumes I like it because I'm a Broadway lover. Not so much. Of course a lot of the people I know would say that I'm actually a Broadway whore because they think everything I like sucks...and some of of it does, but they don't know enough about it to judge.

I really have not watched enough of it to say I do not like it. I watched THE GLEE PROJECT and found it fairly interesting, but that drag queen flaming diva almost did me in...talk about a drama queen-Too, too much! And the series is something I can not relate to as a whole. We did not have a Glee Club at my high school many years ago and if I had engaged in histrionics like those students, I would have been "transgendered" against my will (if you know what I mean). After thinking about it...No, I don't like GLEE. Just curious.

I feel like we have this thread weekly. The only thing more annoying than people who assume I like Glee just because I like musicals are the musical fans who fall all over themselves to show how much they detest it. It's theatre hipsterism and it makes me want lob glass bottles at your pointy noggins!!!

I think theatre hipersterim would be that we all loved Glee before everyone else did. I never loved it.

I liked the show for season 1. I thought it was funny and they had some great covers. It is actually what started me into musicals (I had never really given them a second thought before the show). Now I don't like the show but have seen 12 broadway show and my ipod is almost entirely cast recordings, so even though glee is terrible now, I'm glad it started me into musicals.

interesting thread. i do not like the show. i find the high school aspect to be the most - i don't know, i find the whole high school genre to be ingratiating.

i appreciate that it is a national advertisement for the value of arts education, but it's just fluff to me. and i agree it's not that well written - so it's not even smart fluff.

i think a lot of it is tone. the comedy isn't situational for the most part, it's "look this is funny, laugh!" i find the knowing winks at various stereotypes to be less challenging than reaffirming. i guess a feeling that they writers/creators didn't trust the audience to take it seriously so they make fun of themselves first to be quite frustrating if not outright insulting.

My problem with the big "Glee" argument is that it's "bringing kids" to a Broadway I don't want to see or have anything to do with, judging from the onslaught of annoying, whiny, over-produced, boringly-contrived clips I've endured that have kept this show squarely on my "don't see" list.

It's not the Broadway I grew up loving or that my mother was a part of. It doesn't evoke endless talent shows and show choirs I participated in myself at that age. It's not representational of the people who used to be in them with me. With each new audio or video clip, sound bite, or ad, I'm only confirming my opinion that I'm glad I stayed away.
