Hey Y'all. I know this is annoying but would really appreciate the help. I'm going to the city this Saturday and am seeing a 2pm matinee but would really love to also see something at night, too. I think rush would be my best bet over lottery just so I know I would get a ticket in advance, but what would be my best bet? I would really love to see ANYTHING GOES but would totally be open to anything else because I know it's really hard. How's HOW TO SUCCEED? The other problem is that I can be in the city at 12 noon, the earliest. Can anybody tell me which are the easiest lottos and rush and when you would suggest me trying to get a rush ticket? Thanks in advance!

I think 12noon would be to late for how to succeed but you never know it's always worth walking up to the box office and asking.

Hair ALWAYS has rush tickets $37 even after lottery

The only show you would have a good chance of rushing at 12 is Catch Me If You Can, but otherwise every other show is out of rush tickets when the box office opens.

You'd be surprised. At about 12:45 last Saturday I got rush seats for the Spiderman matinee. They were perfect view, row V on the isle. Try Spiderman!

12 definitlely won't work for Sister Act or Anything Goes.

Back in April, I couldn't get in the city until 9 am for a 10 am HOW TO SUCCEED b.o. opening, and the line was all the way back to the comedy club, suffice it to say all of the rush tickets were sold out, and I got the last pair of standing room tickets.

(If you get the chance at any show on Saturday, I highly recommend standing room, it's a great way to see a show at a reasonable price at Orchestra level)

Anyone know about Mary Poppins and Rock of Ages and Billy Elliot?

It's definitely easier to get a single rush ticket for most shows later in the day if you are going alone. Like someone said above, it never hurts to just walk up to the box office and ask because you never know!

The rush at BILLY ELLIOT isn't bad. I was able to get a ticket for a 2:00 performance at 12:45 about two months ago. The seats are slightly obstructed (front orchestra to the far side), but you don't really miss anything important.

Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. I can't imagine it's very difficult to get a rush ticket for Billy Elliot as I've gotten one very late. But I think they only have student rush not gen. And I hear Cathc Me is an easy one to get.

Can people offer recent experiences so others can compile info? I'll be rushing Sister Act and/or Spiderman this Saturday and I'll report back. Probably will rush again next Wednesday. I know they'll only be general statements, but it could still prove very helpful to others. Something like "it's important to be in line by this time for such and such a show."

I know these posts can be annoying but when you're running around trying to secure a ticket it can be helpful to know your best odds.

Catch Me is an extremely easy rush. Got a Friday night show rush ticket recently at 4:30 pm.

I also had a really easy experience with How to Succeed rush a few weeks ago for a Wednesday evening show--got a Box seat at 3:30. I have heard that the line gets kind of crazy in the morning, but I also know that they have a LOT of rush tickets, so don't get discouraged by a long line and if you're in the area it's worth checking even if it might seem late.

Also rushed Billy Elliot recently, and the tricky thing is just that Rush is never guaranteed. When I tried for a Sunday matinee, I was waiting in line for about 30 minutes before someone from the box office came out and announced that they probably wouldn't be selling rush seats for the matinee but that people could come back in an hour and check again. Did that, and they still didn't have seats. Checked back in later for the evening show and again was told to wait an extra hour, though this time I did get a ticket. Wasn't the greatest seat (and there were a lot of empty seats from what I saw, so I didn't quite understand the hesitancy to release rush seats) but it was still well worth the price and the hassle.

Also: On the Spiderman front--I got in line at around 8:45 and I was the 4th person in line, and by the time the box office opened at 10, there were only about 7 people behind me and there were TONS of tickets. Might be different now (this was for the last preview performance) but it didn't seem that difficult to me.

Avenue Q is an easy rush for front row $26.50 tickets. One of my best rush experiences. I loved the show!

What time does the box office open for Ave Q and what time did you get there?
That show is next on my list to see and I'm most likely doing rush!

Has anyone done Catch Me? If I get there on a Saturday by 10AM do you think I'd be okay to get a student rush ticket for the evening show?

I've used this blogger before, broadwayinformer.blogspot.com. I emailed her and she answered all my questions. I've used her site for 3 shows.

Hey guys, I will be rushing for the first time next Saturday and I was hoping I could get some advice. I am interested in seeing: Anything Goes, Chicago, or the Lion King.

1) Which tickets are easiest to get?
2) How early do I need to get there on Saturday to get tickets?

Thanks!!

Haven't had a chance to report back...
Did Sister Act rush two Saturdays ago. Got there around 7AM and was not first in line. Most people in front of us were going for the evening show, so only 3 tickets for the matinees were given out before us and we were pretty much dead center. I'd say if you arrived after 8 you were out of luck, but that was in part because a big group arrived around 7:30. So other times you might be able to get there a little later.

Also did Baby It's You rush on a Tuesday and got those seats around 4 for a 7 o'clock show.

Tried How To Succeed around 4:30 (on Tuesday). Only needed one but still no go. The woman at the box office said get there EARLY to have a chance as lately they've been going fast.

macheri33: You've picked some tough shows to rush. AG is pretty popular right now and lines form early. LK has no discount that I'm aware of other than the SRO option. I stopped in last week and the cheapest seat available was in the $150 range for a single, over $200 if you wanted two seats together. Chicago does rush but not for Sat. evening.
Some great shows where it's fairly easy to get a cheap ticket: Memphis and Jersey Boys. Memphis is amazing, even from the balcony where you can get a seat for around $40, even less if you're a student. JB is much easier to get nowadays. Got tickets last week for $47 in the back of the orchestra (center) about an hour before the Wed. matinee. They're considered partial view because of the overhang, but there was very little you couldn't see. And I got a student ticket a few hours before the show last summer. I remember when you had to camp out to get those.

Hope you get some great tickets.

The Lion King no longer offers an SRO option, as The Minskoff is not equipped with any standing space. So, as of now, there is no way to see the show without paying full box office price.
