rush/lottery question#1

Although I rarely post I frequently read the board and enjoy the info I glean as well as the give and take here. I'm interested what others think about this scenario: a person waits in line for a student rush/SRO ticket and then after perhaps an hour or two a friend replaces him or her until the box office opens. Is this kosher or is it being unfair to those who've waited the entire time alone? Any thoughts? Thanks.

As long as you're not holding a place for that person, I think it's always acceptable to share the responsibilities. As you switch, just explain to the people around you that you're getting the same number of tickets, you're just switching places. The only time people get angry is when people let their friends cut after they have been waiting.

The Mormon SRO line generally has nice people. Jerusalem rush tends to have a lot of people cutting which is frustrating since they always sell out of rush.

You're specifically not allowed to do this in the Shakespeare in the Park rush lines; otherwise I've done it, seen it done, and if the same number of tickets that were accounted for, so to speak, in front of me when I originally got on line, are still accounted for when they are actually sold, I don't see what the problem is...

If you want to talk about an interesting lottery situation, though, here's one: I was at a lotto for a show tonight where I immediately recognized the name of someone who won. Someone I know? Nope. Rather, someone whose public, first and last name listed Twitter I'd stumbled across the night before last, where she was explaining in great detail how all she has to do is let him know ahead of time that she is coming, and the person running the lotto rigs it so that she 'wins.' And she'd be at the lotto the following night. Where she did sure enough win.

Or maybe it was just a coincidence.

But I will possibly be at the same lotto tomorrow afternoon, I am really interested to see what happens now!

Is there a reason you didn't specify the lottery in questionx Anakela? I am curious cause I've never even thought about a lotto being rigged but I may be wrong about that.
