Shame on anyone who bought any discounted tickets for any show
Everyone should pay full price - no exceptions. How long do you think it would have lasted without them? I state proudly I saw it on TDF & have no qualms about saying it.

I can't understand if this thread is a joke or if you are for real.

Yes why pay $35 bucks on TDF when you can pay $250 for premium seating? Plus a theatre rejuvenation fee. Any maybe even a telecharge premium. Shame indeed.

That's a bit like saying you should feel bad if you ever used a coupon to buy Crystal Pepsi. Both were incredible and too short lived and I can hope they bring them both back, but if they offer discounts for either I'll use them.

I have to confess, I didn't even PAY to see The Scottsboro Boys! I was offered a comp . . . and I took it. I feel terrible. Blame me, John Kander! Blame me!

I too took a comp, but then went back and paid for a balcony seat at full price. Must I put ashes on my head?

Mark_E, I'm 3/4 joking.
Ghostlight2&theatreguy. That's so interesting. How do you get offered comp tickets?

quolbinua, I'm "in the biz." Way, way down on the totem pole but I'm lucky enough to get offered comps every once in a while. Most shows in previews want their houses full of appreciative audiences so they'll give out tickets to other Broadway people to fill in empty seats - especially when critics are coming. Only the biggest hits (like Book of Mormon or Merchant of Venice this season) don't offer any comps.

saw it with a discount -- cant remember what kind. If it had stayed open, I would have gone back and I'm sure I would have used discounts again.

I got a comp, and only saw it once, so clearly it's my fault the show closed

I almost saw this in December. I'm really upset I didn't because I fell in love with it shortly after it closed. I want it to come back!

I also had comps. Maybe I should have thrown money during the curtain call?

If everyone "had" to pay full price like they "should," a lot of people wouldn't be able to go see shows at all because they'd be priced out. So what does that do to solve the problem, Mr. Roxy? Money still not being made. What a stupid thing to say.

I was planing on using a discount, then lost interest in going to see it. Then I happened to walk past the theatre and ended up paying $136.
Well spent.

I saw the first preview for $19.31 with the special promotion they did. I bought two tickets and brought a friend.
I then saw it with both of my parents and we used the discount code for orchestra seats, probably for $70 or $80.
I then saw it for $28 from the last row of the balcony and brought three friends.
I then saw it for the $60 rear orchestra discount.
I then paid for two full-priced $137 tickets for me and my sister to see the closing performance.
So though I paid discount for most of my tickets, I feel okay having brought 7 other people who wouldn't otherwise have seen the show.
I'd gladly pay any price for it to be back on Broadway right now. I just think it's something that needs to be seen and I am thrilled that it will get a West Coast Premiere next year.
