Congratulations to the most wonderful actor I've ever had the privilege of seeing. No-one deserves to win the Tony Award more than him. He is beyond amazing. June 12th cannot come fast enough!
I hope he wins too! Thought he was marvelous. But he could have also been nominated as Best Actress in a Musical instead of one of the other woman. No?
He is a MAN - i.e., actor, not actress. And in my opinion, much deserving of his nomination- I for one hope he wins! He was absolutely incredible in the show.

chickfila--rude. I am sure you are some talentless troll sitting behind your computer slinging digs.
You're pathetic. being rude to someone to has been in something like over a thousand performances and took the show from it's workshop stages. whatever you think of the show is fine, but respect for peoples HARD WORK would be appreciated.
I just saw Priscilla. He was so real and touching as well as splendidly campy. I haven't seen all the nominees yet but he was excellent and if he won I would have a big smile on my fsce.
Jodie W - I couldn't agree more. I first had the pleasure of seeing Tony Sheldon as Bernadette in Australia - I was so blown away by the show and his performance in particular that I was thrilled when it was announced he would play the role in London, my home town. I saw him 8 times more in London including a very emotional farewell performance. I always thought he'd get to reprise the part on Broadway too and am sooooo excited about seeing him again when I arrive this weekend There are few actors I'd travel the world to see - Tony Sheldon is one. He deserves every award and accolade that comes his way for this performance of a lifetime.
Mercedes, it is too bad that you don't like my opinion, but it is just that - my opinion and I am entitled to it and entitled to post it on this board. I saw a mediocre performance in an extremely mediocre show and based on MY OPINION, Sheldon did take someone else's spot by being nominated.
If you find that pathetic, so be it. I couldn't care less. For actors, criticism of their performances come with the territory. I couldn't care less how long he workshopped the show or if he walked two miles to the theatre in a blinding snow storm with no shoes on to perform. I am a paying customer and am entitled to voice my opinion.
It is called a message board and if you don't like reading what others have to say about shows and the performers in them, I suggest you go somewhere else.
Thank you theatrepaul. I'd travel the world to see Tony perform too(and f ully intend on doing so). Exceptional actor and truly wonderful man. He's just won a Theatre World Award too.
Jodie W - I agree. I saw the show on Broadway this week and having not done so when I saw it in London, I went to the stage door in order to meet Tony. What an absolute gentleman. He was quite lovely. Can't wait to see him on Broadway and West End stages in future years
Sorry but anyone who loves acting and theatre can't say that he did not deserve a nomination. Im not a huge fan of the show but when i saw him on stage with it here in London i thought his performance was superb.
Chickfila should be allowed his own opinion though, as for Kalimba....well this poster is just around to be a annoying.....a bit like crabs
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
All I know is that after 25 years of regular theatre going, Tony Sheldon's peformance as Bernadette touched me very, very much, in a way only few actors have done thanks to his incredible performance. Having seen him 10 times now in the part, I will never tire of seeing him in the role.
Exactly! His performance is touching, and memorable. I've seen a lot of Broadway shows in the last 45 years, and Tony Sheldon's Bernadette ranks among the most memorable that I have seen. In my review I cited Joel Grey in GEORGE M, Carol Channing (when she first did Dolly), Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Lovett (she was equally memorable in GYPSY), and Harvey Fierstein as Edna. They are performances that you remember for a lifetime.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion (I'm still recovering from the fact that THE LION KING beat out RAGTIME for the Tony), and perhaps there are those who have a favorite performer that they feel was slighted in this year's award nominations, but Tony Sheldon not only deserved his nomination, he deserves (in my humble opinion) to win the Tony.

I agree Nealb1. The London production was able to be much more faithful to the Australian orginial and as a result, overall it felt much more authentic. That said the Broadway production still has some wonderful things to enjoy.
