I don't want this thread to be about spoilers for the show. I think the less you know about how the show unfolds, the better. Trust me on this!

BUT, having seen it, and, as MacBeth is (sadly) one of the tragedies that I'm not overly knowledgeable about, I'd LOVE to be able to put some names to some faces, so that I can make some more sense out of what I saw as I continue to think about it.

Can anyone help me identify the following (and I promise to try not to add any spoilers to these descriptions):

1) The cute younger guy who was praying after the dinner scene and then joins another really good looking guy in the luggage room where they change into clean clothes. My best guess is either Banquo and his son, or Duncan's two sons.

2) The pregnant girl and her husband. I'm guessing MacDuff and Lady MacDuff?

3) The two people in the center of the dinner table. He mouths the word "murderer". I originally thought this was MacBeth and Lady MacB, but I realized later I was wrong.

4) The two people who arrive at the dinner party bloodied. She in the gold dress and he tall and handsome. Were these MacBeth and Lady MacB?

5) The Coroner? Who was that?

6) The guy burying the letter.

7) The pretty girl who isn't in a formal dress, who is snooping through office and then cuts a passage from a book and puts it into a locket.

Sleep No More Character I.D.'s? The guy who gets naked during the orgy? (Ok, sorry, that's a spoiler - but the scene is SO amazing, that people should know to try to find it).

9) The guy who doesn't get naked during the orgy? Is that MacBeth?

10) These characters I'm not sure if I saw or who they were, so does anyone have any clues as to where I might have seen them (or where I can find them the next time I go): Banquo, Duncan, Banquo's sons, Lady MacBeth.

There were a couple of REALLY good looking guys who were in their later 20's playing leading roles, that I think looked a LOT alike, so I got confused at times... or maybe it was the same guy and I just saw him SO many places and scenes that I thought he was multiple people.

I really could kick myself for not knowing MacBeth better. And I'm sure at least ONE of you will cut me down to size and chastise me for being a bad theater gay and not knowing my Shakespeare well enough. So get out your knives boys (because I know the bitchy ones on here are theater queens, not girls), and hack away at me. But in the process if you could try to identify these characters I'd be SO grateful, because I can't STOP thinking about this show and REALLY want to make more sense of it...

P.S. A note for those who like to attack people who post with legit questions and interests: you guys crack me up! you're as silly as watching an aimless banana peel-slipping buffoon... so if your goal is to upset me, that's impossible because I find you very very funny - in a very very sad way. And I envision you as being 40 pounds overweight, still thinking you should play Tony in West Side (even though you're 25 years too old and have a singing voice that even your shower hates), and bitter and hateful because the theater is filled young pretty boys with talent who don't invite you to their parties. We see you when we come out of our stage doors - as you stand in the shadows leering at us, somehow drawn to us, but hating us at the same time because your boat has sailed, and even the pianist at Marie's Crisis over-sings you to try to drown out your caterwauling. So rip me a new one for not knowing MacBeth if you must, but just know that it won't upset me. I'll just be laughing at you and feeling sorry that your fat ass is sitting here ripping me a new one, when you SHOULD be at the gym working off that lasagna from last night.

...and for the nice people with a weight problem: we love you and DO know the difference between the "bitter I-hate-the-world-that-left-me-behind" types, and the amazing wonderful fans who don't have to devote their lives to fitness and the gym the way we who work in this biz have to... we think you (the nice ones) are completely beautiful and perfect just as you are!!

haha... quite possibly. Oh well, I know who I am, so I don't care what "those people" think. I admit it became a slight rant because I get tired of seeing people be slaughtered for legit and honest postings, because some fat old queen is bitter that he's not Nick Adams. haha Probably should have put it in a different post - but I knew I was opening myself up for ridicule by asking these questions about one of the MOST famous and well known of Shakespeare's plays. And I really DO find those guys who trash everyone on here pathetically funny when they attack me. But then again, I'm thick skinned. Others here are not, and for them I felt it time to draw a line in the sand, and call a spade a spade... BEFORE they pulled their knives on me, because then I'd be on the defensive and not the offensive.

Now, if we're REALLY lucky - some knowledgeable people who don't bother with high school drama will read this post and answer the actual questions... as I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love the answers...

AGAIN...SPOILERS

1) The cute younger guy who was praying after the dinner scene and then joins another really good looking guy in the luggage room where they change into clean clothes. My best guess is either Banquo and his son, or Duncan's two sons. -- not sure

2) preggo woman and her husband are macduff and lady macduff

3) the one who stands up (the older guy) is king duncan and the one that screams murderer is one of his sons

4) the two people who arrive at the dinner party bloodied are macbeth and lady macbeth.

5) The Coroner? Who was that? -- not sure

6) The guy burying the letter. -- not sure maybe one of duncan's sons

7) The pretty girl who cuts the passage out of the dictionary im not sure who it is but it seems like her job is a tailor. she goes to hecate(the woman in the red dress who stays at the replica bar) and you find out that she is hecate's daughter.

Sleep No More Character I.D.'s? the three people who are in the club orgy scene are the three witches and again the woman in the red dress sitting down is hecate. and i cant even tell you how much i loved that scene. it was AMAZING. so out of place but so perfectly placed. i went back 2 seperate times last night to see it. i really felt like i was in a club. it's easily one of the best parts of the show. and i hope everyone gets to witness it. the strobe light effect was so awesome.

9) The guy who doesn't get naked during the orgy is macbeth

banquo was the guy who comes in to the dinner scene late with blood on his face.

Oh, she was DEFINITELY there... ran into her more than a few times. She's particularly fun to watch in the ballroom during the dance scene with Lady MacDuff...

She also came up behind me in the graveyard and put her hand on my shoulder from behind... cREEEEEPY!! and WONDERFULLY played!!

The only mention I've seen so far of an actor's name was on some comments section at the end of someone's review, where the actors of the tall short haired red-head who ran the elevator's parents mentioned their son by name as being in the cast, and gives his website address. Couldn't begin to tell you where I saw it, though, as I was scouring the internet for information about who was who and what was what after seeing the show. Was INCREDIBLY cute that his parents were SO proud of him that they posted his name in response to a review. Probably made the poor guy go "aw geez, Mom, did'ya HAVE to?" haha

If you ask me, though, making our parents proud is one of the KEY thrills to having some success in this biz.

About the only thing I can tell you is that the guy graduated from NYU and is a working dancer. But if you go and do a google search for "Sleep No More New York" and read the pages that are reviews and skip down to the comments section, it's the first one. And once you have his site address, you could always write to him and ask him if he'd be willing to give you the cast list.

I want to say it's MacBeth and the missus at the left, in the middle with the vest and stache is hunky Malcolm, the taller guy next to him is Duncan, the bald lady is touching his shoulder is one of the witches, to Malcolms right is, I think, Hecate. Not sure though.

Sleep No More Character I.D.'s?

this is my understanding of it according to the NY production. i know this photo is from Boston, but i'm pretty sure it's the same structure as the NY one. i'm positive about everyone's except malcolm. is that actually malcolm? can anyone confirm that? i would assume so because he's sitting next to duncan at the table and his reaction to duncan's death but i cant be quite sure. i'm pretty positive about everything else tho.

EDIT:
ok it is malcolm. after reading the NY Times article from last week about the show it describes Malcolm as a detective and i can match some of the detective scenes with that actor in the picture(who is the same actor in the NY production)^

That's awesome! Thanks!

Although I'm still confused who the younger very hot guys were who almost look as if they're meant to be brothers, that end up in the luggage room after the dinner. Are they Banquo's sons?

I don't remember the last time I couldn't shake off thinking about a show. Bravo, Punchdrunk!! Please have a cast talk- back show sometime! I'd pay any amount for THAT ticket!

Malcolm I was sure of. In the Hitchcockian scenes in Boston, he had a detective agency.

Hi everyone! Probably big spoilers ahead, sorry in advanced: Saw the show last night and like everyone else was enthralled, enchanted, disturbed. I went with a friend and ditched her within a couple of minutes. (She was under the impression it was going to be haunted housey and after the second time she reached for my arm I decided it would be better for us to experience alone and artfully slipped away from her, very easy to do if you have a frightful girlfriend/boyfriend you don't want to deal with) I'm still trying to figure out who the woman with the blonde hair was, who had the scene with who I know understand was Hecate after the club orgy scene where Hecate puts lipstick on her and offers her a drink. I followed her some, I think she must have been the Rebecca tie in because I couldn't place her within the Macbeth story line. I would kill to go again just to see the lady macduff murder or some of the inital propechy, most of my time was spent following the witches and macbeth and lady m, once I figured out who they were. It's so interesting because looking at the character list (I'll post below) I'm assuming scenes with the porter and duncan must be in there, I just wish I could search) Anyway, last night Hecate was a woman in a red dress with red hair, Lady M had long flowing black hair, was slender with a sparkly cocktail dress. Macbeth is the one with the moustache. Banquo had blonde hair but had a more receeding hairline. Duncan was the older man who during the initial dancing scene (stunning in it's own right) was being held up on people's shoulders. I don't know if his murder was shown but I would have loved to have seen that as well. The club orgy prophecy scene was breathtaking, one of the most visceral heart pounding moments I've ever had in a theatre. Or hotel. Or both. So without further adieu the character list from last night's program:

Duncan- Phil Atkins
Bald Witch/Catherine Campbell Kelly Bartnik
Lady Macbeth/Agnes Naismith- Sophie Bortolussi
Macbeth/Rehearsal Director- Eric Jackson Bradley
Macbeth/Porter- Nicholas Bruder
Sexy Witch/Nurse Shaw- Ching-i Chang
Bald Witch/Catherine Campbell- Hope T. Davis
Sexy Witch/Nurse Shaw- Stephanie Eaton
Banquo/J. Fulton- Gabriel Foestieri
Banquo/J. Fulton- Jeffrey Lyon
Hecate- Careena Melia
Boy Witch/Speakeasy Barman- Jordan Morley
Macduff/Bellhop/Mr. Bargarran- Luke Murphy
Porter/Orderly- Matthew Oaks
Malcolm- Rob Najarian
Lady Macduff/Matron- Alli Ross
Boy Witch/Speakeasy Barman- Paul Singh
Macduff/Bellhop/Mr. Bargarran- John Sorensen-Jolink
Lady Macbeth/Agnes Naismith- Tori Sparks
Lady Macduff/Matron- Lucy York

glad to see you liked it and thanks for posting the cast list! does it mention any understudies at all? or can i assume that any of the repeated characters on that list are the understudies. i'm pretty sure the first lady macbeth mentioned (sophie bortolussi, who is REALLY incredible) is the actual lady macbeth.

The second time I saw it I saw more scenes with that nugget of hunkiness Rob Najarian as Malcolm. He was so intense.

Oh God. I saw this a few days ago, and didn't even see the orgy scene! So frustrating. Where was that?? I feel like I was seriously handicapped by not being able to enter until 7:40, the elevator guy put us in the third group, two floors from the top, and the first 30 minutes were spent searching for anything that made sense, not many actors even around. Who was the poor tortured girl who seemed so sad and mopey, was in the tailor shop for awhile, sat with the overbearing woman at a little table and eventually retired to an equally sad little room? I was thinking she was the second wife from the novel Rebecca, and the sparkly, mean woman tormenting her was Mrs. Danvers? Saw a lot of MacBeth violence and once I found Lady McB, I hung with her for a long time, she was so fascinating and thankfully, recognizable.

DO I HAVE TO NOW GO BACK TO SEE THE ORGY??? YIKES!!!! I think I noticed the strange bald witch, was another one of the witches a rail-thin Asian woman in an incredibly plunging neckline evening dress who seemed to be tormenting one of the male characters? And was Lady MacDuff pregnant in the play, or just here?

Sorry, I thought I had been at least moderately successful until I read all this stuff about the orgy Sleep No More Character I.D.'s?

i hate that we're even talking about that scene on here because it is such a GREAT surprise. i would hate to spoil it for anyone. yes i know we're putting spoiler warnings, but it would be much safer if there was a private board we could talk about this on.

here's something intersting. i was quite curious about the character names after April Saul mentioned the poor tortured girl who was sad and mopey so i googled Agnes Naismith(which is her character's name) and this is what came up..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paisley_witches

some of the characters seem to be related to these witch trials(Agnes Naismith, Mr. Bargarran, Catherine Campbell, J. Fulton, and Nurse Shaw). i find this odd because in the Boston production their character's names are related more to Rebecca (The Second Mrs. De Winters, Mrs. Danvers). does anyone have any more info about this change? are the Paisley Witches related to Macbeth(other than them both dealing with witches)?

**SPOILERS**

Anyone know which male character is beaten in the bar (the one with cedar floor beyond all the crates, not the fancy bar) with a brick?

I believe he is the same one who took me into a private room, anointed me with oil, handed me a sword, and read a passage from a book (the bible??)...

He kind of looked like a darker-haired Justin Timberlake...

YES! Just looked up the Banquo actor, Gabriel Forestieri, and that was totally him. Still can't figure out what exactly the meaning of our one-on-one was, but it was still super cool!

Doesn't hurt that he's ridiculously attractive either...
