This episode is one of the best I can remember. (i'm guessing Lorne did not clear the "hotel PUssy" line!) Gins"burn", the Chappelle characters, behind the scenes at SNL.
It was the best episode I can remember. It was funny in light of current events, without making it worse, considering how raw everything still feels. I think that would be a tough task. I thought the cold opening was a bit magical.
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!
I stopped watching the show regularly a few years ago, and only tuned in recently to see the political stuff. But I love Chappelle so gave it a shot tonight and totally loved it! Great job!
I was disappointed. Was looking forward to Alec take on on a more arrogant than ever Trump it seemed to be a funeral instead of a comedy skit show.. Like for 911 or Boston Terrorism than a show after a free fair election. I guess they can not pretend to me non rootie anymore.
Well, it's pretty sad that we're about to have a fascist for President even though more people didn't vote for him.
The cold-open was beautiful and certainly made me cry, but it would have been nice for the show to own their part in normalizing him by letting him host.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
Agree with most posters above-- SNL nailed the right tone this week.
All the bittersweet work at the beginning made the comedy that much funnier in things like the Election Night Party skit. Dave Chappelle rocks. Best episode in months.
Was very moved by Kate's Cold Opening. Didn't realize how good her voice is. Was a bitter sweet tribute to both Cohen and Hillary's campaign. Dace Chapelle, you have been missed! Please, don't remain a stranger!
Those Blocked: SueStorm. N2N Nate. Good riddence to stupid! Rad-Z, shill begone!
I only saw the cold open. It was so hard for me to watch. Physically. I just could not see past the tears. You could just hear the emotion coming out of Kates voice.

Shame on Lorne Michaels!
"
I keep forgetting about that cringe worthy of an episode. That probably helped his rise.

Ratings kiddo. Read Tina Fey's book about her Sarah Palin bit. Wait - I found it-
"Lorne was riding 3 weeks of 7+ ratings and the real Mrs Palin would surely exceed that. She was ratings gold...I told Lorne if the real governor did the show I would sit this one out. Lorne suggested I not decide so quickly.... I was hurt that Lorne would put me in this position. At the same time, it is never lost on me that he put me in the position" of being on TV in the first place...
The rating was 10.7/14 million people."
SNL has always tried to position itself as the "cool" show. (meh) Having Trump on was just a ratings grab for those who'd watch to feel superior. But NOT for the folks in the Florida panhandle et al. SNL is way too "godlessly liberal" for their tastes.
I think when people in real life are caricatures of themselves (Trump) it is hard to outdo them as a comedian, therefore the comedy can at times fall flat which seemed to be happening in the fake news segments. I also think with the Trump situation it is often times hard to laugh at since what we have gotten ourselves in to with Trump is so serious and it makes a huge segment of people nervous.
This bit made me laugh so much I started to cry tears of sadness. So I think I have bipolar? No, but it just made my upsetness about the election skyrocket 1,000,000 points. Still pretty funny though https://youtu.be/IAhF8tPqafQ

I thought Casey Affleck was one of the better hosts this fall. His dry style worked well with the ensemble. Is it just me or does it seem like two of the male cast members are in love with gay humor. It is not offensive just noticeable.
