Alec Baldwin still rules as Trump.( couldn't believe they got away with the "quote".) Day Off was good.( loved the escalation) Crucible Cast Party was painfully funny ( ah memories). Pine Ridge was OK to meh.
Diego Phones Home didn't completely work but when it did, it was good. ( lying on the truck w the girlfriend)
Wells Fargo was good as far as it went but there could have been a bit more bite ( i guess w a Bway star they went a little heavy w the musical stuff)
I thought Lin Manuel did very well the teacher skit ( oy I had one like that).
O.K. so cold opening was very good. But the monologue -talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel. And rewriting a classic song like "Get Happy"? and puppies and "your moms". Wow. Looks like Lin got all the good stuff.
It's funny how they got Lin and blunt back to back.

That "qua" was absolutely hilarious, but I felt the very end was an unnecessary plug for Emily blunts new movie.

The Melania short films are a retread of Jack Handey's "Deep Thoughts" from the 80's, but not as clever or funny. I agree that the Pink Party Bus bombed. Even if the technical aspects had been on track, I still don't think I would have found it funny.
As a HUGE fan of TGBBO, the bake-off sketch didn't work for me because the Mary and Paul impersonations weren't even close... The references to the actual show weren't bold/accurate enough to contrast with how strongly the slags were portrayed.
Way too many of the sketches had that really uncomfortable feeling where you just knew they knew they were bombing, and bombing bad. A pretty awful episode overall.

I'm hoping that Lorne Michaels is kicking himself good and hard for keeping Pete Davidson and firing Taran Killam.

Did it start late for everyone? I'm wondering if it was still live in my area since the news broadcast before went over a half hour to show the Cubs winning.
I loved the video with aidy, Vanessa and Cecily. I also thought lady gaga gave one of the greatest musical performances on the show in a VERY long time.

Yes this episode really recovered from last week's "meh to blech" Hanks monologue was funny and cute. I wasn't sure about David Pumpkins but came around by the end. Update was excellent too. Lesley Jones rant was not always funny but it was important to hear.
That sketch to Don't Stop Believin ? I must have missed the point.
Girls NIght was f'ing great as was Black Jeopardy.
The Sully sketch ( I'm sure Hank's cleared it w the man ) was funny enuf but it's stuff SNL has done b4. People who have their "moment" and then relive it for the rest of their lives.

I hadn't heard the song "A-Yo" until last night. I liked it, and I liked her singing it, but I thought Gaga's performance was weak. She looked like she was very close to stumbling throughout the choreography, which seemed just a hair too difficult for her - especially when she was side-by-side with her back-up dancers. She looked uncoordinated and awkward, barely lifting her foot off the floor for that kick, etc.
Her hat was too reminiscent of Madonna's "cowgirl" styling that she did a while back. ...and what was she trying to accomplish with that guitar at the end?
Still, I thought she sang the heck out of a very fun song - "A-Yo, A-Yo! We smokin' a bong!"
The final category on the Black Jeopardy sketch. So good. If just half an episode's sketches were that good this show could be amazing. One thing that was so wonderful about that sketch was that it got funnier and funnier right up until that brilliant ending. The opposite of what usually happens - a slow, painful petering out to a whimper of a final line.
Also, I've had that flippin David Pumpkins song stuck in my head all day.
Jeopardy was great! David Pumpkins seemed like filler. Hanks Monologue was great too. I thought Sully was pretty funny too. I liked Gaga, really loved that first song. I used to love Kates Hillary, now she seems to be doing Kate doing Hillary not even trying to imitate her like she used too do it.
A great episode- and finally, we're seeing more well-crafted sketches that actually build rather than run in place and then abruptly stop. Maybe having Hanks- one of the all-time great hosts- caused everyone to step it up.
