Fantastic that they are going to try.

I hope they can reassemble the entire cast!

I pledged my support. And have shared on Facebook.

Yes Yes Yes. Let this work! Why should SBs be thrown on to the trash heap while other junk keeps running. It was the BEST show of the year. Just watch Spiderman get best score though for that tuneless junk! Because the powers that be will want U2 to perform on the TONYS! They will do ANYTHING for ratings!

they are asking us to sign a pledge to pay $99 too see the show in the Spring.

Is that asking for too much? Do you guys think they can fill houses easier with more affordable tickets?

I think it's a brilliant way to gauge interest and draw attention to this.

I'd gladly pay $99 to see this show again.

I signed the pledge. I sadly missed out on seeing the show, and I have heard nothing but glorious things about it. Hoping it comes back.

I think it is great that they are doing this but to sign a pledge saying you will pay $99? Surely if it did come back it would be on TKTS for less than this anyway. I'm in NYC beginning of April. Will see it if it's on, as with anything I see, for the cheapest I can.

I've often wondered how certain shows would fare if top price was $100 rather than $120.

I really hope it does come back. I'll be in the city in February and was dying to see this, but those plans fell through. Barry Weissler Announces Campaign to Return THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS to Broadway

The Study Guide on the play's website is one of the most thought-provoking student materials I have seen prepared for a Broadway musical. Excellent work.

I have always thought that the Weisslers et al who produced Scottsboro Boys failed to identify and cultivate the target audience for the show.

Let's see a better ad campaign.

I don't trust the Weisslers as far as I can throw a piano. Nasty people.

I also think $131.50 or whatever they charged is just too much for people to shell out without some sort of brand recognition. They'll pay $250 for premium tickets to Wicked or Jersey Boys, but won't see Scottsboro, but that's probably a bad example. I think that Scottsboro would have done well to follow the Next to Normal path where the top price tickets are $116.50. It just feels more reasonable, and almost like a bargain.

That said, I paid full price for Scottsboro closing night and I will gladly pay $99 to get it back again! Keep spreading the word!

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Barrymore
Belasco
Booth
Broadhurst
Cort
Lyceum
Music Box
Studio 54

Of those I'm sure that some are booked that I have forgotten about, or that are rumored. Doubt it would go to Studio 54 b/c it's Roundabout. I think it might work nicely in a theater with no balcony like the Booth or the Music Box (Booth more so than Music Box). The Cort and the Belasco have a similar feel to the Belasco to me, but I don't know the logistics of them comparatively. Are any of those theaters booked by things yet?

Here is an article about it possibly coming to Chicago before its New York return: http://leisureblogs.chicagotribune.com/the_theater_loop/2010/12/scottsboro-boys-producer-ive-called-all-my-good-friends-in-chicago.html#more

They should have started a kickstarter campaign. That would have better guaranteed them the money rather than a bunch of people saying they'd pay $99 dollars and then having the opportunity to back out later.

I dont think they honestly expect all those people to come see the show for 99.00. I believe they are just really polling the field of how many people intend to see it if they give it a second chance. That and this publicity aint hurting either.

Isn't this like begging on the train?

I'll sign the petition if they don't ask us to give $99...

Maybe $20?

I believe the petition asks if we would buy at ticket at $99.

Not 'give'.

This is a clever plan, and if it works the Weisslers will be heralded as geniuses.

The reviews were enthusiastic: Per Staggrade..
13 Raves
6 Favourable
4 Mixed notices leaning positive
2 Reviews were undecided
1 Mixed leaning negative
1 Unfavourable

At the very least it will give fans a 2nd (3rd or more) chance to revisit a show that is well worth seeing a 2nd or 3rd time. It will also allow those who didn't get to see it in the fall a chance to catch up.

And...probably the crucial reason behind this campaign... it will have the show running when the Tony team makes their nominations. Sales will be helped by nominations and a possible win could turn this flop into a hit.

Even IF this plan does work, don't be expecting every fall flop to get revived in the spring. Most shows that flop deserve to fail.
