Getting better but still not there. The Kurt/Burt stuff was amazing, as always, and had me tearing up. The other stuff was good but ehh. They really need to stop playing on the Finn is dumb and Rachel is self absorbed stuff. The preachiness of the episode was a little too much but could have been worse. Rachel singing to Burt was down right creepy. Touching his head and stuff. If she had leaned down and kissed him I would have reached my breaking point. I thought I Want To Hold Your Hand was perfect for the moment.

But the episode was made simply for the fact that they had Puck singing Billy!!!!! I hate these all one artist episodes but would love a Billy Joel one. Of course only Will & Puck would be allowed to sing any of the songs but that is ok with me!

I agree that it was too preachy. That's why I found it so odd, I guess. I find it a tad bit annoying how half of an episode will be good, but the rest will be pretty bad. Like last week, any of the songs where Brittany and Santana were the main singers and Toxic were good. The rest was bad. And I thought this weeks episode went down hill a bit after Puck's song, but picked up a bit with Finn's song.

The whole season...in fact most of the last 12 episodes, have had that same inconsistency. Individual great moments stuck in a mass of mediocrity. I keep waiting for the quality of the first half of season one to rememerge, but it just ain't happening.

I thought last week was pretty much a complete bust, but at least this episode had "I Want To Hold Your Hand." From concept to arrangement to performance, I thought it was perfect and not the least bit awkward. It was Kurt celebrating the one person in life who's always had his back. It moved me unlike any other scene in any recent episode.

But the rest? Finn and his sandwich? Stupid...although Cory has that clueless expression down pat. Rachel? Kind of annoying and while I love "Papa" within the context of "Yentl," I was not fond of her version. Mercedes? Know a lot of people like her...her heart's in the right place.

There is honestly too much singing on the show. It gets in the way of story development, and some of the song are just creepy.

I find myself fast-forwarding through many of the songs after the first few bars ...

If I had to watch this show live with no DVR I would just turn the channel.

I thought "I Want To Hold Your Hand" was fabulous, and was the best part of the episode (along with the additional detail into Sue's life and beliefs).

"I Want to Hold Your Hand" was beautiful, but the episode was just too depressing for me. It's hard for me to sit through anything where there is a parent in a hospital with a life-threatening illness, though. Colfer and Lynch made the episode worth watching, but it had me in a bit of a funk.

I love Heather Morris.

Lea needs to stay away from The Streisand. She's clearly got pipes and shines with the right material, but she didn't pull it off. The whole "Papa" number seemed out of place.

"There is honestly too much singing on the show. It gets in the way of story development, and some of the song are just creepy."

YWIW, although I tend to enjoy Glee for what it is and forgive a lot of it's flaws, I agree. I thought "Losing My Religion" was bizarre!

I've never liked the gospel version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" (Art Garfunkel has my heart!) but Mercedes gave it her all.

When Glee first came on, it reminded me of "Election". I thought it was funny and quirky and camp. Now, it's just plain sappy. I only half paid attention last night. I think I might be over Glee.

I think Finn still pulls off the Chris Klein, dumb quarterback well but I am pretty disappointed how much Rachel Berry in both looks and demeanor has strayed away from Tracey Flick from the early episodes.

as annoying as the sectionals/regionals thing was last season, I'd rather get the focus back to an overall goal. They are still one member short (which I know next week's previews shows Sam joining but still), etc. Give us something to root for other than rooting against characters right now.

Another thing that annoyed me was the hat Kurt wore to church and the fact that he didn't have the respect to take it off while inside. He was all down and out and then struts into the church like old Kurt. And it seems they did it just for the visual joke with the lady that was wearing the same hat. Had I walked into a black church and left my hat on, someone would have told me to take it off.

Oh, and the BET Awards comment made my mouth drop before I busted out laughing. She went there.

Was I the only one who's immediate reaction to the end was - 'Are you sure you want to be eating that grilled cheesus, Finn?!'

i think the episode was alright, not very good...but for new-Glee standards it was acceptable. I fear it's losing its way though. It just doesn't have a point anymore beyond existing from week to week, almost knowingly riding the hype wave towards beaching. There is some gradual and occasional character development, but the plot is barely pointing in a direction. They've not even mentioned finals or continued trying to recruit members.

I thought they dealt with the religion/spirituality issue decently enough, it's how teenagers today (in the US, anyway) would approach it - perhaps even a bit too maturely. You have the religious, the atheists, the undecided's/not bothered's and those who would rather keep out of it. If anything, they only skipped out on the uber-religious...but who needs to give them crazies more airtime.

I appreciated the few one liners though. 'Jesus is my number one Heeb' and the BET line was funny too. Oh and the 'Now I know how Miley feels' was great.

This week's episode was too incoherent and it's beginning to get too formulaic.

The religion argument was like they just took boilerplate talking points and pasted them into the script. And I get tired of supposedly 16-18 year olds talking like they have fully matured ideas on every subject. These kids talk like adults. They need to have some of the dialogue be less sure of their opinions.

Sue threatens the Principal, then she "goes to bat" for Kurt in regards to no religion in school. The kids all get hyper because one of their group is doing something that might hurt the rest of the group. NONE OF THAT had any conclusion. Why introduce something and then drop it?

"Papa Can You Hear Me" was not needed in this episode. It's like Lea Michele has a clause in her contract that she gets a song in every episode.

And why did the guidance counselor need the teacher to come along when they told Kurt that his father was taken to the hospital? And doesn't the teacher actually teach anything?? He used to be a Spanish teacher.

The storylines really need better writing.

And they need to close the door to the classroom. Those extras walking by while the singing is going on is annoying. I realize that everyone in this high school is perfect, but in my high school, if a door was open, some kid would stand in the hall and moon the class or try to get the attention of the class.

Goth, those extras always divert my attention! Also, I think the Sue thing kind of had a conclusion with the checkers game with her sister and the final shot with her watching the kids sing.

toany, I thought the same thing about the grilled cheese snadwich.

I liked the checker scene, I think it was one of the better scenes in the episode.

But I think they should start writing Sue's character differently. How many times does she go into the principal's office and threaten? It's too formulaic.

I also think this episode came too early in the season. A parent in the hospital doesn't leave a lot of room to grow. Mike O'Malley's name is now in the opening credits so I'm assuming he's going to be a regular on the show.

I'm a sap and thought the episode last night was very good! I think it was lovely that Mr. Shue went to talk to Kurt about his dad, they're all much closer now so it made sense to me that he be there with him. I also thought that Kurts song to his father was beautiful and didn't find it inappropriate at all. Oh and re: Kurt's hat in church, he wasn't the only one wearing one! LOL

My bar for Glee is so low that "this didn't turn out half as offensive as I thought it would" kind of scored this episode as an A- for me. Or maybe it's because Kurt was actually a bright spot here, instead of my most loathed character. You're growin' on me, kid.

Then again, I still love Rachel. "I want to know that my children will be free to worship in the way that I decide is right."

Glee is such a confused show because it mixes tones too much. From dark and tongue in cheek to sappy and earnest. Such an inconsistent mess. This episode had that in spades. But in a way it kind of made that fact work better than it usually does? I don't know.

I'm really surprised at how much active dislike is being shown for this show, especially on a "Love Thread."

I've never been a fan of the show myself, the general air of extreme cutesiness combined with extreme self-congratulating sanctimony never fails to turn me off. I'm sick of the sight of the great Jane Lynch by now.

And that Kurt, man. I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one who finds him annoying. If the bullies of the world ever wanted to launch a counter-offensive, a Why We Bully campaign, all they'd have to do is make a demo reel of this twit's behavior and they'd have a very convincing argument for dangling kids headfirst into the toilet. I damn near put my foot through the screen when he got all "I need to express myself" before launching into that bizarrely incestuous rendition of "I Want To Hold Your Hand."

So here's a question -- do they do this on purpose? Is Kurt supposed to be an insufferable little twit?

Just finished watching it and I teared up a few times. Was it the best episode of the run? No. Was it better than majority of the run? To me, yes. There was actual feelings and acting (for the most part), and I like moments where you don't see Sue just as the mega bitch. "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" was the highlight for me. From Chris's voice, to the conception, was great. The version he did is actually the one used in "Across the Universe." It was a bit preachy, but it did have some good moments in there.

The acting of the woman playing the new football coach is superb. She's brilliant and wiping everyone off the decks. Love her.

Matthew's singing, which is their best, is underutilized. They need to give him some girlfriends more interesting than the germicidal cleaniac.

Liked the duet with Quinn and the new blond kid; they make such a cute couple and radiate chemistry. Updated On: 10/11/10 at 12:08 AM

John Stamos looks more like '60s Comeback Elvis Presley than Eddie, and that's not a bad thing. "Hot Patootie", indeed.

Kurt as Riff Raff- I really would have never guessed. Diana looks amazing too.

The Rocky Horror pics illustrate what frustrates me about this show. If they were going to be really daring, they'd have Finn or Chord as Frank N Furter, Kurt as Brad or Rocky, etc. That would be interesting. And what's with the baggy shorts and basketball shirt on Rocky? Good grief,it's a musical about SEX! I don't buy their "well, it's a school production" nonsense. Glee puts the girls in risque outfits all the time. The guys need their turn.
