This production has already opened right? Has anyone seen it? I'm dying to see CHESS! Bring it back to Broadway!!!

Dottie, are you going? You guys are getting all the good stuff this year! Lucky.

I would LOVE to see Chess, though I'm in Tx, it's not going to be coming here. I agree it needs to go back on Broadway with quite a number of the OBC to reprise their roles.
Muscle, considering I saw the original Broadway production, the subsequent national tour with Carolee Carmello, the production at Papermill and an off-Broadway production in the early 90s, I just might have to!

You guys are getting Chess, Sunset BLVD. and you got Sycamore Tree with Marc Kudisch, Tony Yazbek and Judy Kuhn. I'm very jealous...how expensive is to get there from NYC?

And I understand that their production of SUNSET BOULEVARD will incorporate the original orchestrations with the full complement of musicians (please correct me if I am wrong). I can't imagine how wonderful it will sound in that small space.
I'm still trying to learn what "version" they're doing. The little promo vid on the Signature site mentions 'combining the Broadway version and the London version' -- but I'm curious if that's going to be same as the recent RAH concert(which I've read is supposed to be Rice's preferred version - mine too, for that matter).
I LOVE Marin, but I'm hesitating seeing N2N again, I didn't like the show when I saw Alice Ripley in it...it might have been because of her acting/singing though. Maybe I should re-visit.

The credit of book under this production goes to Nelson so I think it will be based on the Broadway version with some modification. It's a shame cause I really prefer the London script unfortunately so far all American productions were based on Nelson's book with some rewrite.
Dottie, you saw 3-time Tony nominated DIVA Judy Kuhn in Chess? I hate you!

I just called Sig Theatre and they are doing the Broadway version. "If it wasn't in the original b'way version, it will not be in this production." That's what the official at Sig Theatre told me. She also added that the theatre does not have the rights to London version.
I have to admit, I'm a bit disappointed. Everytime I listen to the Broadway version my heart breaks. The original london version was brilliant in so many ways. What Nelson did to the book is crimnal.

Muscle, I most certainly did. I remember going with friends of mine. We were either going to see Carrie or Chess. I kick myself to this day for having missed out on Carrie.
DayDreamer, even though you were here a couple of months ago, I think you should come back and see Chess.

If you want to see London version I am afraid you have to see it outside of US. So far all US Chess productions I know of are based on Nelson's book. I guess he owns the right of all US production. As for this production, I haven't seen it so cannot tell. But Jeremy Kushner's Freddie alone worth a visit for sure.

Muscle, I see no one answered your question about getting from NYC to DC. The answer is it's as expensive as you want it to be.
Both MegaBus and BoltBus offer inexpensive bus fares from NTC to DC - can be as low as $1 each way plus $0.50 booking fee up to around $20 each way (the booking fee applies regardless of the price). The only time I saw it more than $20 was the weekend of Obama's inauguration.
Amtrak also offers a $49 each way price on certain times depending on availability.
I think most of us "Chess" fans go pretty much for the music now...after seeing the Broadway edition with Judy Kuhn, the touring version with Carolee Carmello and attempting to watch the RAH concert (which Idina pretty much single-handedly ruined), I've given up on the book every being worthy of the music.
