This sounds like some kind of horrifying joke, but no, it actually happened last night when the cast of Wicked Australia performed a benefit concert for the charity of a former cast member ("the poor cast member had died".)

But I thought it was actually really good...for a one-night concert everyone had their lines down pat - (they had to learn them while performing in Wicked 8 shows a week at the same time). Interesting how the cast of the Encores! Whistle didn't manage that for their multiple-performanced concert by opening night? (Maybe they have less expectations?). {There were some slip-ups, e.g. Baker's Wife said "is it NEVER or? is it NEVER and" but still).

The most interesting thing (to you guys anyway) is probably how they used the Wicked set. Well, they used the front left staircase for many entrances (e.g. the Witches' "get me what I need" etc.), the right ladder part was used as Rapunzel's tower and the hair was thrown off it etc.. (it seemed to work well). It was also used as a tree for Jack/baker when they kill the giant.

They used the draw bridge for different scenes e.g. when the Witch confronts the mysterious man about what he is doing, and when Cinderella's prince is searching for her (this actually was interesting because it was actually believable she could have ran away from him whilst he had to 'get down' from the bridge after he saw her).

They used the flowers at the front of the stage during "Hello Little Girl"; they used a trapdoor for the Witches' disappearance after "The Last Midnight".

They used the backdrop of vines or whatever it is (IIRC the backdrop for a romantic scene between Fiyero and Elphaba {As long as your mine?}) often when they were "In the woods".

Sometimes they'd have random cogs down, which didn't make much sense at all. The set was clearly imposed.

The music was played by the pit-orchestra.

They managed to sell a framed signed poster of the concert for about $4700 AUD too, which was interesting (there was an auction before the beginning of act 2).

A Photo of the program;

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

They had them for $30, unfortunately by intermission (when I went to buy one), they were already sold out. Guh.

Into the Woods is my favorite musical and that entire evening sounds really interesting. Also, that logo is amazing! My favorite from that show by far.
