Why wasn't SLAVA'S SNOWSHOW recorded for DVD?

Seemed to have been very popular. Unfortunately I wasn't able to see it in NY. It's currently across the ocean in Barcelona.

I wonder why it was never professionally recorded for DVD. Surely one of the networks, PBS, BRAVO, A&E, or OVATION would have been interested in it?

The trailers make it look SO much better than any Cirque du Soliel or Blue Man Group show.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

The main gimmick of the show would be lost on DVD (unless the DVD came with a snow machine).

Missing this show is a blessing!

The usual answer for "Why wasn't X filmed?" is almost always- MONEY.

I saw the show years ago before it went to New York. Along with the snow two other things that would be missing are the hughe beach balls they threw out into the audience at the end and the "snowball" fight that the audience has after the show.

I think much would be lost. I loved this through and through.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

PS-- This would have been something on Bravo or A&E 10-15 years ago, but now they're filled to the overflowing with cooking contests, Type-A real estate flippers, Law & Order reruns (is that A&E?), and high-drama fashion designers.

Yep, it was all about money. They were planning on filming it in 3-D, but once they were sued by Corine and had to pay to have her suit cleaned and her hair done, it just wasn't to be.
PEACE.

I only just found out today that a dear old friend of mine was in the cast.  We were both cast in one of Jerry Bock's last original musicals, Danny and the Dragon.

I worked front of house when this was at the Helen Hayes. The Slave cast were all very nice (if smelly and we think they slept in the theatre sometimes) and they threw great parties (as well as producer Joseph Gorden Levitt). BUT the show was so...odd. Very few people came out loving it or understanding it.

My main memory is the Hayes cleaning crew and ushers basically killing themselves to keep the confetti inside the theatre. When a single piece would blow outside the NYPD would always give us a citation.

Because the show ruined Corine's business suit.
