Even a teen-age boy can sing this number better than Lupone.

Sondheim will allow his material to be bastardized by any person for any reason.

What urked me the most was the lyric changes.

I liked it! I liked that they finally threw a little bit of broadway back in it! :)

Rose's Turn was the only part of the episode that held my interest. Definitely a weaker episode.

I was actually surprised because Sondheim did not allow THE PRODUCERS to use ROSE's turn in Lane's big number.

It was a pretty weak performance (and I LOVE Kurt), but it was great to get real theatre exposed on such a popular level, not just Wicked or the like.

I don't think a bastardized song is a good representation of Broadway. And if that's the way they wanted to go, there were better choices. Finn, Puck and Jessie singing "We're your Dreamboys, girls, we'll make you happy" or Quinn singing "Soliloquy".

I really want Glee to take on a Jason Robert Brown song.

And it was much better in-episode. The emotions really came across and it made me realize the benefits of musical theatre songs over other types of songs.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

Love to see Santana do "Stars and the Moon"

Puck and Mercedes also did "The Lady is a Tramp" from Babes in Arms which is also a musical. It was even on The Broadway.

Maybe Laura Benanti or Karen Olivo could do it and then many on this site would be forced to learn another show.

I thought it was amazing! I was really introduced to how well he can actually sing in this episode!

And I'm glad they finally stopped using auto-tune on Lea Michele for the first part of the episode.

But he let them use it in Hairspray?

His "Rose's Turn" was good, but the scene with his father was even better.

Lane singing that would have been epic. Even though Betrayed was still fantastic.

It was Arthur Laurents who wouldn't allow the parody in The Producers.

I think he's talking about the very end of "The Big Dollhouse" where Edna sings "For me!". Not really a complete parody, but more like a nod to Gypsy.

The Producers parody is pretty blatant, as was the almost identical joke used in Shrek just last season.

However, speaking of Lane, I would LOVE to see Nathan Lane do Mama Rose in drag. He IS the perfect Rose, except for the whole "male" thing.

^If there's ever a male Rose, it's going to be Harvey way before Lane...
