Such a shame. True talent and class. Rest in peace Ms. Horne.
"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott
The OCR of JAMAICA is a fine showcase. And since there was hardly any story you can just enjoy one great Harold Arlen tune after another.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks." Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
May she rest in peace. My parents had a Lena Horne album when I was growing up that I liked enough to go see her in Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music. That show and her performance have stuck with me to this day. She epitomized strength and beauty.
I posted this in the thread on the Off Topic Board. It's Len accepting the honorary Tony Award for A Lady and Her Music and singing "If You Believe" from The Wiz.
