Kill. Me. Now.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Wow, they are really hell bent on watering down the market with their own product, aren't they?

Thank god I didn't decide to become a High School theatre teacher.

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert

Frank Loesser must be spinning in his grave. He founded MTI for better things than this.

Because gads of folks love it. (I am not one of them...but in a very small minority.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I wonder why MTI announced it if it wasn't true. Perhaps it WAS true, but for once logic prevailed with the Glee powers that be and they pulled the plug.

I know this is a HORRIBLE idea, but I can't help but get a little excited anyways. Still, a horrible idea, along with whatever Avenue G is.

The thought of an "Avenue G" actually coming to fruition makes me want to kill someone.

To be fair, the stage versions of High School Musical are MUCH better than the films they were inspired by, as the stage shows are played with a much-more tongue in cheek sense of satire towards the material than the somewhat serious films.

Plus, the music is reorchestrated in sort of a "retro pop" style rather than the techno/hip-hop sounds of the film. This is mild in HSM 1 Live, and almost jarring in HSM 2 Live, which seems to be set more than 20 years before the film.

These are the people who give the rights to perform HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2. All of my friends, theatre nerd or not, hate this idea. Even my hardcore Gleeks/friends loathe the idea. Just do a summer tour each year and we're done.

You have no idea how glad I was when this was proven false. This is the worst idea ever. I love the show and would hate for it to be ruined by a terrible stage version.

romgitssean-
What do you have against MTI? I've always found them to be a fairly good company to work with, and a lot of their advances (rehearsascores, etc) have really helped school and community productions.

Besides, aren't you 17? How much have you actually dealt with MTI?
