How many people usually show up/got to Non-Equity (Tour) Auditions. I know that a lot of auditions will be coming up in spring for the new Non-Equity Tours (NETwork Tours). I plan on auditiong for one, so I just want to brace myself for the amount of people going!

Ans has gone to a Non-Equity Audition? How many people go?

500 isn't a hugely exaggerated number. That would be a heavy turnout, but it does happen. Usually it's in the 3-4 hundreds.

HUGE. Really, it varies, but recently any call I've been to in NY has been so crowded it's ridiculous. At a recent EPA for She Loves Me I went to (I went cause' I'm EMC and you can occasionally be seen towards the end of the day) I was 47th on the EMC list, after 131 Equity standbys, plus the Equity people that had the slots, and after me were 100 non eqs. Ridiculous. Needless to say, I was not seen.

The last non-union call I was seen quickly at was at an audition for replacements for the non-union tour of the Drowsy Chaperone, but they were only casting three male roles.

I heard that the recent Spamalot non-eq tour call was VERY crowded. 400 some?

Not only are non-Equity auditions crowded, but people get there to start a list as early as 2 a.m. I'm not going to start in on the whole lists issue, but know that if you get there any later than 7:30 a.m., you're in trouble.

And just a word of advice concerning list for non-equity. Please be courteous of signing up on the official list. Most of the time an unofficial list is created, which is great. But I saw at more than one EPA, non-equity actors running to the list and signing up before people who had been waiting there since 5 or 6 AM just because they were next to the table. First time I saw it, there was a confrontation, another time an Equity member had to remind people of the courtesy.

So please, don't be rude, go in order of how you guys showed up to the audition, ask questions. Otherwise, it escalates the stereotype that non-equity equals non-professional.
