OH MY GOD this is the seventh time in 2010 that someone has brought this to my attention one way or another, and several times in 2009 since it was posted, too.

Why is it all of a sudden so popular?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

It is pretty funny, but having been in Peter Pan with the flying crap, the first time I watched it I was really worried somebody got hurt.

But now I just laugh.

That was tragic...it was recently posted on Dlisted, too. Maybe that's why it's coming back up again.

I've been getting it e-mailed to me from a bunch of friends that work in the film industry in Hollywood. It must be going around the offices. That explains why Perez and Dlist are just now posting it.

I'm with ya' B3, it's funny b/c no one was hurt. The audience was really supportive at least.

I love the little dance PP does at the end there. Lol.

....but the world goes 'round

I just think it's funny that high schools think they can just fly kids around the stage like it's easy or something. When I did the show we had to get FlyFX or whatever, the professional company that was ALL about safety so stuff like this wouldn't happen.

Anyway, I laughed my ass off at this video. There's another similar peter pan one on youtube, I'll post it if i can find it.

The thing I love the most about these sort of situations is how no one knows what they should do, for example lights going down as per usual scene change, then back up, and the curtain only half closing while people mill about the stage. A bit like that scene in POTO.
