Broadway in a World Dominated by Pigs (or How My Horrible Day Turned Out OK

Today, I had one of the worst days of my life. I woke up at 5:40am to catch a 6:15am bus to get to work. On the way to the bus stop, I tripped on some ice and landed in my knee then fell on my forearm. Surprisingly my knee isn't injured too badly, however my forearm is swollen and hurts. A lot. My job requires some lifting of heavy objects so it was a trial.

On top of that, we were very, very, very, very busy. How busy do you ask? Well today is our busiest day of the year. We make 12x more today than the average day. So work was also stressful.

I had plans to surprise my roommate by taking his dog to get groomed and bathed as part of his Christmas present. So I leave work and go to the bus stop to head home. It is 3:30pm. The bus doesn't show on time, so I call the depot. They send a sketchy van to pick me up and drop me off at a different stop. The regular bus can't come to my area due to holiday traffic. This causes me to miss the connecting bus and I am running late. I make the next connection, she stops at a random stop and tells everyone to get off. She then says nevermind and we get back on. She then is stopped by a supervisor several stops down and we get off again and are told to get onto a new bus. To make a long story short, 3 buses later I am home at 6:15pm when I should have been home at 4:15pm.

I arrive home to find no dog. My roommate left a day early for home and took his dog with him. OF COURSE HE DOES. I then see a wrapped box on the coffee table with my name on it. Inside I'm thinking "aww, finally something nice happens to me today!" I open it. It is a piggy bank. A "decorate yourself piggy bank." I get very very angry. WHY DOES MY ROOMMATE THINK I WANT THIS? HOW IS THIS EVEN AN ATTEMPT? THIS ISN'T EVEN A FUNNY GAG GIFT! I open it. He already decorated it.

I broke down in tears. This was one of the nicest gifts ever given to me! The amount of time it took to do this must have been DAYS.
