Fantastic news!

Do we think it will feature the cut songs? I believe SIMPLE was recorded, right?

I imagine a song list will show up any time now. The only confirmed filmed but cut song by Marshall is "Only With You", but, yes, I believe "Simple" and "Take It All (Trio)" were both at least recorded if not filmed but they probably will be Itunes exclusives or something if released at all, I'd think.

Last night at the screening, I heard that SIMPLE, ONLY WITH YOU and BE ON YOUR OWN were all recorded. I don't know whether they will include any of them on the CD. Perhaps only the numbers actually filmed (that will appear as bonus dvd tracks).

I will be absolutely ecstatic if SIMPLE and BE ON YOUR OWN are included on the Soundtrack. If not, hopefully they will get leaked or something. Those are two of my favorite songs in the score.

Wow, that blows my mind that "Be On Your Own" was recorded.

If "Simple", "Only With You" and "Be On Your Own" were at least recorded, the soundtrack will feel nearly complete to even the purists amongst us. I wonder if "Simple" was filmed, after all? I still would love to hear the duet/trio "Simple" and trio "Take It All" that have been mentioned by the creators long ago.

Will it be one disc?

They should just push the general release up a week too. or two--seriously I am beginning to worry that they're poversaturating the media a BIT too soon.It went from my non theatre friends not knowing anything about Nine but being excigted and intrigued to more than a few peopel I know saying they were tired of hearing about it :S

Damn here's hoping they recorded Be On Your Own just as an additional track. They definitely did Only With You.

However, it's always possible some of the recorded and cut songs will end up being exclusives for iTunes, etc. And then, of course, there will be the inevitable Deluxe/Collector's Edition soundtrack in a few years...

In other news, I kinda hate the soundtrack cover. Looks like some photoshop amateur did it.

I'd also say its fairly likely there will also be a 2 CD deluxe edition that will include a lot of the underscoring composed for the movie and could potentially also include the cut songs.

A lot of it will have to do with how well the movie and soundtrack perform (sales-wise).

If they do well, you can guarantee a "really special, 2-disc, NINE to the ninth power" edition, with deleted songs.

And if NINE is a hit at the B.O., they'll load up a DVD and BD with extras, and I'm sure deleted scenes and songs will be there.

Here's hoping it does well!

I think it's smart to release the digital version early...They can't ignore the fact that it will be leaked anyway by then, so they might as well make some profit off of it.

And I am cool with waiting for a special edition with cut songs later down the road.

The four track sample has been released, I posted it earlier but they removed it..Not sure why since it has been given out free at some screenings..

I cringed when I saw the track listing & realized how much of the score was gutted.

I was just thinking the other day how pleased I was that movie musical moved past thinking they had to have contemporary artists singing remixed songs from the film, or music "inspired by" it in order to sell the soundtrack.

And at least Madonna's club mixes of "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" and "Buenos Aires" made some sense, and the former was actually successful on the charts. Remember the awful additional songs on the Chicago soundtrack? And when Janet Jackson was supposed to write a new song fro the film until Fred Ebb said he'd dispute the entire film to the Writers Guild if they did?

Chicago went platinum, and nobody bought it for the Queen Latifah remake of "Cell Block Tango."

My heart sank when I saw the extra tracks on Nine. Ug.

No, Yeston didn't do the underscoring for the film. It was done by Andrea Guerra

Roxy, for my money, they made all the right choices in cuts, including SIMPLE, and ONLY WITH YOU. There is only so much non-live lypsynched singing a film audience can handle and film is just a different medium of storytelling. The film is simply, like CABARET, its own totally unique adaptation of the material. If you aren't open to that you really shouldn't frustrate yourself by going to see it.

Were people outraged when the musical came out for *desecrating* the original 8 1/2 film by *ruining it* with added sequences like "Grand Canal" and by setting it all in a spa?....

Brick - why should you be upset that the producers of the soundtrack recording enlist well known artists to sing bonus tracks? Its not as if they are cutting things to include those tracks - and if it helps the score sell more copies and reach a bigger audience, whats the problem?

I swear I will never understand the musical theatre purists who believe somehow that the Broadway musicals should be kept reserved for the elite fans of the stage and feel 'upset' when changes, cuts or celebrity endorsements are called in to play.

I'm a bit on the fence. I think it makes complete sense to take one or two songs from the soundtrack and make a pop version of them for the end credits--its what films do (were the first musicals to do this the Disney ones--starting with Beauty and the Beast) and can have some success. I'm not a big fan of David Foster's MOR work but I think that cover of Unusual Way is really quite beautiful and apropriate and maybe could have life on a MOR radio station.

What's this about Janet Jackson--she was gonna do a song for the actual film part of Chicago or just the credits? Cuz didn't Anastacia do a non K&E song for the credits anyway?

For the record, no pop track is anywhere in the actual film. The music playing over the credits are repeat performances of CINEMA ITALIANO (by Hudson) and BE ITALIAN (by Fergie).

Quando, Quando, Quando? Is this the one written by Alberto Testa and Tony Renis?
How odd, and if so, unnecessary.

I'm excited for the movie, but there are a lot of songs missing.
