Mr. Charles Irshwood of the NYtimes has reviewed american idiot. It's a pretty good review. Do you think it's broadway bound?

I agree with it being a major success off broadway! I saw it 10/10/09 and it was a high octane, dynamite of a show! Wow, the energy and adrenaline that is needed to get through that show is intense. I was surprised at the use of some songs from "21st Century Breakdown" and some new songs as well. (Does anyone have a complete songlist, as they didn't post it in the program.) John, Matt and Tony were excellent in their roles.

I saw it last night and it had some amazing acrobatic moves, advanced use of electronic projections and flat screen TV's and talented cast that rocks!

John Gallagher was on a day-off...so we have to see it again just to see his version.

That is a short kinda throw away review.
Most of it he is comparing it to other shows.

" A major success off-Broadway",
unfortunately that does not exist anymore.

According to Riedel the show is currently looking for a Broadway house.
EDITED.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

ray, I think you misread Reidel's piece.

He said that PROMISES, PROMISES wants the Broadway specifically and that AMERICAN IDIOT is just amongst a list of shows looking for a house in general.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Somethingwicked, you are right. I don't think I misread it as much as I forgot since I read the article last night before going to bed, thanks for the correction, I'll edit my original post re: American idiot NY time review

Interesting! I think Isherwood's review is right-on. I felt comparisons to "Hair" as well. The whole thing, though, works almost more as a ballet than a traditional musical. Yes, there's a plot, but the show succeeds at conveying moods and states of mind simply by its overall tone, rather than directly through the plot. It's the sum of its parts, rather than a through-story highlighted by stand-out songs.

Anyway, I loved the show and will be seeing it again in a couple weeks.
