Norbert, Aaron, and Tom Wopat look great.
The set looks awful and Kerry Butler looks horrendous.
Glad to see Brandon Wardell back in a show after his last Broadway outing - Good Vibrations. I'm sure this one will run a lot longer...

I'm not terribly fond of the "projection" phase sets are going through.
But I'm uber excited about this show.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

These projections are getting old fast. They looked terrible and cheesy in Guys and Dolls and 9 to 5. Incidentally, both shows were/are flops. I'm very disappointed, but I'm sure they poured too much money into these sets to change them before Broadway.
A note to all future producers and scenic designers: Broadway audiences have imaginations. Even the simplest set can represent the grandest landscape - we don't need giant TV screens behind the actors to set the scene. But thanks.

Because of the integration of the orchestra and the lack of a physical set, am I the only one who feels like I'm looking at an Encores! production?
Kerry Butler looks incredible for 38.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.

YES! A "real" set is needed for a flashly Shaiman production. This minimalism just doesn't work on the larger scale.

Posted: 8/5/09 at 1:08amI do not like this trend of using a giant video screen in lieu of a set. Norbert is nearly unrecognizable in that picture. Aaron looks great, though. I still have hopes for this show, even if I don't immediately like the set.
