So what are we all seeing? I've bought tickets to the Harold Pinter paid, Far Out the Sci-Fi musical, Graveyard Shift, Vote the musical, How Now Dow Jones?, and Love/Money.

honestly? i'm having trouble mustering up much enthusiasm for this year's offerings.

i've done Fringe for a number of years, looking forward to it each Summer. usually my problem is winnowing down my list of "wants" to a manageable number of shows. this year for some reason it's more like trying to find more than two or three that appeal to me.

maybe i just need a break ...

On the contrary. I think this is one of the stronger Fringe seasons in a very long time.

That VOTE show has all kinds of heat under it.

There is a show called 666 that got raves at the Edinburgh Fringe.

There is a show called Abraham Lincoln's Big Gay Dance Party, which has me sold just from the title alone, but that one comes from San Francisco with a basket of great reviews.

There is a musical based on the movie CITIZEN RUTH, which has a lot of interesting people attached, and is directed by the artistic director of Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company.

There is a show called DEVIL BOYS FROM BEYOND, that stars Everett Quinton, and is directed by Kenneth Elliott. Elliott is the guy who directed all those Charles Busch plays, like VAMPIRE LESBIANS OF SODOM, and a lot of the other ones too. It is written by the author of that off Broadway play, THE CRUMPLE ZONE, from a while back.

There is a show called FLIGHT, starring Brandy Burce from HBO's THE WIRE.

There is a play by the screenwriter of the movie TRICK, called NOTES ON THE LAND OF EARTHQUAKE AND FIRE.

I mean, come on. There are all kinds of interesting offerings this year. And a lot of talent involved. I think that Nick Adams, who everyone swoons over is even in one of these shows, but I don't remember which one.

I'm not involved in these but I see lots of the Fringe shows every year, and really, a lot of this year's offerings are the best that have been around in a long time. I think it is easier to get an idea of all the shows by downloading the program guide from the Fringe website. There are a lot of full-page ads with a lot more info than you might be getting just from the Fringe listings.

I'm probably going to see 'The Marriage Play' or 'A Contemporary American's Guide to a Successful Marriage' the 1950's premise sounds interesting and has Alex Brightman and Autumn Hurlbert in the cast.

And I have to admit I'm mildly curious about Abe Lincoln's Big Gay Dance Party, because come on... really now.

Also VOTE has Deidre Goodwin and Bailey Hanks in the cast, which certainly makes it worth seeing- especially for 15 bucks.

I'm producing THIRTY MINUTES OR LESS in the Fringe! It's my first time producing and I'm really excited about it! I hope you all come out to see it! Theatermania (I think it's Theatermania) has a discount out for the first performance.

Please support a fellow BWWer finally getting to do what she hopes to do for the rest of her life!

Yero- Thank you for letting us know about the show. The plot looks very interesting, and I am free on your opening night. I'll be there!

GRAVEYARD SHIFT sounds like incredibly camptacular. Is the Minetta Lane easily accessible from Grand Central Station? I have no idea where it is and for some reason HopStop.com isn't working on my computer.

All the Fringe venues are below 14th Street, so you're going to need a take a cab or train from Grand Central. I don't remember exactly where the Minetta Lane is.

Yankeefan - I swear I read somewhere on these boards you don't like vote.
A little known fact is that in the original screenplay, Pan's Labyrinth was Pan's FLAByrinth. Hmmmmmmm...glad they changed it.

If you want to avoid convenience charges, you can also buy advance tickets at FringeCentral, which will open on July 31st. This year FringeCentral will be at 54 Crosby Street.

All the info you need about Fringe is generally on its website.

I'm seeing Devil Boys From Beyond. I'm a huge Theatre-in-Limbo, Charles Busch fan and this play has the same director Ken Elliott who directed all those shows (my favorite being Psycho Beach Party) and stars Andy Halliday, who played in most of Busch's plays, alongside Everett Quinton from The Ridiculous Theatrical Company. The marriage of these two companies in this show I'm sure is going to provide an evening of over the top camp - which I love!!!!!!
