Yeah that is neat, but I hope they don't scrap the entire book because unlike some shows with great scores, Michael Stewart's book is not that bad at all. But it is pretty awesome that it will be coming to Broadway. I don't know if it can count as a Encores! transfer with the expanded production and all, but you know, Wonderful Town hasn't come to Broadway verbatim and it worked really well. It still had that Encores! flair. I wonder if with Carnival they will keep the orchestra on stage.
I did some more searching through articles and found that this is indeed an Encores! transfer that was announced during the run two year ago. I suppose that it will probably show up in spring of 2005 because Ms. Hathaway is to star in The Woman in White and assuming she has a six month contrat she could probably star rehearsals in mid-February and then play the show in previews in April and then open at the beginning of May. But this show has a beautiful score and I'm always up for an Encores! transfer because they are never the run of the mill revivals we usually get!
