Even more people thought that it was a fact that a dumpster fire like Trump could never win. You may be right that Pete won't win. But I wouldn't be surprised if you were wrong. Facts ain't facts until they happen."
Absolutely, Barack Obama was such a lovely surprise, even when he was in Illinois and wasn't interested in the job. He won for many reasons, and we had eight incredible years with him. And I agree, no one thought Trump would win, which is why we fell asleep at the wheel in November 2016 and didn't bother voting. The swing states, which were so damn important, had such a low voter turn out. In my opinion, it's because both were very unlikeable (I love Hillary deeply but she is cold), but what I didn't think of was the incredible turnout by racist, sexist, and radical Republicans. Hate crimes went up overnight when he was elected. We failed and it gave us years of anxiety, terror, anger, and completely divided country.
I think everyone has been deeply affected negatively by this monster, and we want him OUT. That is the only objective for next year. I know that is a low bar, but we need the person who can beat this jerk off. We need a candidate who excites voters enough to go out and vote, especially young people and POC. It's sad that it's come to that, but that is what we need. I am thinking of the good of the party. I like Pete a lot, he is calm, incredibly intelligent, and has some excellent plans. But, I think he's too green and I don't want this to be true, of course, but a lot of people simply won't vote for a gay man to be POTUS.
I guess it's Joe, for now, which is fine. I have no idea who Obama will endorse, but it will go a long way with black folks. I just want Trump out, like everyone here I believe, and we need a moderate candidate with name recognition to do so.
Why is Michael Bloomberg in the race??? Last night's debate was nearly perfect. Amy Klobuchar captured my heart, mind, and credit card. But, Iowa is do or die for her.
As was evident by last night's debate, if Joe Biden just stays the course, the Democratic Presidential nod will be his. Slow and steady.
I thought this was Biden’s best debate performance thus far. Warren is a very effecting debater, but I think Buttigieg put some dents in her “purity” tests. My major problem with her is the math on her plans doesn’t add up and I have to believe she’s too smart to not realize that. Ditto for Sanders who also just seems to think taking loud and in large general talking points is enough. Also, I don’t think the optics were in his favor when he tried to start answering a question about race by instead first answering a question he wasn’t asked.
I have never fully gotten the attraction to Yang, but he did okay even though I think his Freedom Dividends are unaffordable and pretty dumb. And I pretty much forgot Steyer is even on the stage.
I would say by next debate, we’ll probably be down to 4 or 5 candidates. My guess is Steyer and Yang will not be on the stage. I also don’t know how easily Klobuchar qualified for this debate, but I worry if she’ll make the next debate although I think her strong debate performance last night will certainly help a lot.
