@ModernMillie3, when I saw Hamilton in Baltimore this past summer, I also noted at how young the male understudies are.  I kind of want to see a seasoned professional in the roles of Burr or Washington.  A younger Hamilton doesn't bother me as much.  I happened to see the Burr stand-by at that performance and I was really disappointed.  It seemed like he was in way over his head.

I've seen a couple of Angelica understudies (DC - Dorcas Leung and Philadelphia - Cherry Torres), and both were excellent.

I saw Donald Webber Jr as the Hamilton Understudy on Broadwayand he absolutely killed it. Similarly I saw Andrew Chappelle as the Jefferson Standby and I enjoyed his performance nearly as much as Daveed."

Did Chappelle cover Burr? I think I saw him in that role and he did NOT disappoint! I thought he was great.

A big ol’ ding ding ding to this post.

as for Bway cast, I was told that a buncha Chicago veterans are moving to Broadway- not sure exactly who, and this is all nonsense rumor, but I had heard Tamar Greene and Miguel Cervantes were all part of that transferring, which makes sense with Bryan Terrell Greene and Ryan Vasquez filling in for a bit.

I didnt mind Mandy Gonzalez as Angelica (i had only ever seen Renee Elise Goldsberry, which is an unfavorable comparison), but i still cant help but think of the many others who would eat up that role (Rebecca Naomi Jones, Shayna Steele, Sharone Sayegh...)

Yes, the majority of the original London principals (Rachelle Ann, Jamael, Tarinn, Cleve) as well as other OLC and 2nd year principals left on November 16.

Last remaining OLC principal is Jason Penny Cooke who plays Lafayette/Jefferson.

I managed to see them on November 15 as well as towards the beginning of their run. They were really strong. There was still a spark there unlike what I've seen on Broadway.

I wrote the following for the "Helen Shaw" thread but am posting it here as well: I came on here tonight to report my views on the current Bway cast of Hamilton after seeing the matinee today (Monday, December, 23, 2019). I actually found most of the cast as well as the esemble to be very strong. Krystal Joy Brown as Eliza was fantastic, and Daniel Breaker as Burr was very good. Iglehart's take on Lafayette/Jefferson is his own -he is flamboyant yet not quite as sexy as the performer I saw in Chicago (not sure of the name right now). Mandy Gonzales as Angelica felt a bit a bit more motherly towards Eliza than a big sister. The biggest weakness for me was Ryan Vasquez as Hamilton; he seems more passive & I didn't feel his ambition as I did seeing Miguel Cervantes in Chicago. With Vasquez, he's so tall and pretty, that it is almost like you don't doubt that the whole world would just fall into his lap. He sings the role well, but he isn't a very good actor - in Act 2 when his son SPOILERS

dies, Vasquez is a blank. Because he has such a large physical presence they need taller actors like Mandy Gonzales & Iglehart as Angelica & Jefferson respectively to literally stand up to him in scenes of conflict, such as when Angelica comes back to NY to be a at her sister's side & brushes Hamilton off. But unfortunately she comes across as more matronly than other Angelicas. Someone who is a better actor is Daniel Yearwood as Laurens/Philip. When his Laurens is paired with Vasquez's Hamilton... I have rewritten this to make it less pornographic... his Laurens is more macho than most. Yearwood could be a very good Hamilton. I just want to add the sightlines at the Richard Rodgers are so much better than in those at the CIBC theatre in Chicago. There isn't enough pitch in that theatre, so the heads of people in the row ahead of you obstruct so much. Here I was 3rd row from the top & had a complete view of the whole stage picture. As I went to Rosenkavelier at the Met afterwards, I also had my binoculars with me to see facial expressions - which is something I highly recommend. If you have any interest in Rosenkavelier, tonight's cast was outstanding. Magdalena Kozena is the greatest Octavian I have ever seen - so much swagger that I think SHE would make a better Hamilton than Ryan Vasquez! But the cast the performed tonight returns for the January 1 & 4 performances and is different from the cast this coming Saturday, December 28.

Burr - Akron Watson

Eliza - Victoria Ann Scovens

Angelica - Marja Harmon

Lafeyette/Jefferson - Paris Nix

Laurens/Philip - Andy Tofa

Peggy - Ashley De La Rosa

Wallace Smith (Mulligan/Madison) left the Broadway company of Hamilton on Sunday.  Wonder who will be replacing him.

Stephanie Jae Park (Angelica tour stand-by) also left on Sunday.

Broadway cast update: Tamar Greene, Fergie Phillips, and Aubin Wise from the Chicago Company have assumed the roles of Washington, Mulligan/Madison, and Peggy/Mariah. Elizabeth Judd is the stand by for the Schuyler sisters. JJ Jeter is currently Hamilton and Vasquez is standing by this week.

There were some big Hamilton cast changes in the tours and S.F. this past weekend:

—Darilyn Castillo left as Peggy/Mariah in San Francisco and is now playing that role on the Phillip tour, replacing Nyla Sostre.

—Emily Jenda left the Phillip tour as Schulyer Sister stand by over weekend and was replaced by Meecah.

—Erin Clemons departed the Phillip tour where she was Eliza. She was replaced by Stephanie Jae Park, the previous stand by on the Angelica tour.

—David Guzman returned the Broadway company a while ago.

^Thanks for the update! I'm very curious as to what the principal cast will look like when they get to DC this summer as several have been in their present roles for 1+ years.

I see that now DC will be getting the Philip company of Hamilton instead of the Angelica company.  I swear this switch was made recently.  A week or so ago I noticed that the DC dates were completely gone from the website.

Kinda not happy about this switch. Houston was supposed to get the Philip Company and now it is showing we are getting the Angelica Company.

I was hoping to see Marcus Choi and Stephanie Park's performance

I feel the same way about the switch (even though I've seen the Angelica company numerous times).  I was looking forward to seeing them again, though happy we get Stephanie Jae Park now. I wonder why they switched it up like that.

Haven't seen the show since 2016 and found today's cast to be a real mixed bag. Not sure how I'd feel if that was my first viewing. Eddy Lee was Hamilton, and he was a disappointment. He felt too small and too polished for the role. Didn't make the impact of "MY NAME IS ALEXANDER HAMILTON." I didn't feel the character's urgency or intelligence. Ryan Vasquez was on as Burr, and I liked the intensity he gave the part, but his voice wasn't my favorite. He hit the notes, but I missed the smoothness of Odom Jr. Tamar Greene was Washington and Euan Morton as the King George were just fine. Elizabeth Judd and Krystal Joy Brown, as Angelica and Eliza respectively, felt like they should've switched roles. Judd was sweeter and Brown had the strength and feistiness. Iglehart's Lafayette left a lot to be desired. His Jefferson was much better. The best one was Fergie Philippe as Mulligan/Madison. A lot of fun! I love a classic, so this is far from my favorite show, but it really is brilliant, and I was happy to be reminded of that.

Jamael Westman and Nicholas Christopher set to lead the LA company.

I am beyond excited for this. Nicholas Christopher was Burr the first time i saw the show and not only did he own the role, he stole the show.

Then, I crossed the pond to watch our very own Rachelle Ann Go who called out the night i saw the show, but it's alright since Sharon Rose did a marvelous job,  and was very impressedby Jamael's portrayal of Hamilton. It was just perfection. One of my all time favorite performance of any show of all time.

After seeing the news that Jamael and Nicholas are taking over the lead roles, I am already planning my LA trip.

Miguel Cervantes officially landed in New York yesterday as per Instagram so I'd imagine he'll be taking over soon. I know I heard beginning of March but not sure of a specific date. It's kind of cool that Jimmie Jeter will be his standby again!

Joseph Morales is leaving the tour although he specifically only said the tour not the show so maybe he's going elsewhere?

Akron Watson is also reportedly leaving.

Cervantes is a great Hamilton. His casting may convince me to see my favorite musical on Broadway again.

Morales gives us a more subdued, intimate Hamilton but his performance grew on me significantly over the two times I saw the show on tour.

Akron Watson is a great Burr.

Agreed entirely!! I was going to see it in New York just to see Miguel again but between Mandy Gonzalez (seriously when is she getting replaced?!) and SO MUCH of the Chicago cast being present, I've decided to wait until my next trip. Just so I can see some new takes.

I think Akron Watson left the show on Sunday as Donald Webber Jr returned from doing Gun and Powder at Signature Theatre.
