Moulin Rouge, Dear Evan Hansen, Flying Over Sunset and Intimate Apparel have all announced their reopening dates today. Essentially leaves us waiting on The Book of Mormon and The Lehman Trilogy.

The announcement from Come From Away included Rachel Tucker and I think that is a good sign she will be back!

Book of Mormon is absolutely coming back. They already have rehearsals scheduled.

KPOP is still planning on Bway, but they are prepping for an out of town run first. So they might not get here until next season.

I'm worried that The Lehman Trilogy just wont make it. If they manage to get things together for a Broadway run, it wouldnt be surprising if its delayed a year or two.

Also awaiting announcements from Hadestown and To Kill a Mockingbird. And I'm not sure what the status of American Buffalo is - the producers announced last year that they would open it in spring 2021, but we haven't heard anything since the general timeline has shifted.

I’m sure the shows where Scott Rudin was a lead producer are holding off until they rearrange producing agreements and what not.

Re: American Buffalo - there are 3 big names at play, and I'm sure the producers are doing everything they can to maintain all 3 of them, which I imagine would require some tricky scheduling windows.

As with all of these things, patience is key. As I said in another thread: the flood of announcements from the past week or so can create the illusion that some shows are in trouble if they haven't announced. But every day we're seeing more announcements, proving those shows weren't in trouble, they just needed a bit of time to get things in order. Even now, these shows are still 4+ months away. There's no hurry to hear from the producers right this moment.

Also waiting on Sing Street. The last announcement I’ve been able to find was they are planning to open between winter 2021 and early 2022. But I’m really hoping it’s 2021. Fingers crossed.

I was never expecting to hear from producers right this moment, nor did I mean to imply that the lack of an announcement suggests the show is "in trouble." I know there are plenty of moving parts here. But it's a show that was gearing up for performances last spring, and that has often been disregarded and/or overlooked in most reopening conversations on the board. Just thought it should be acknowledged, to help jog the collective memory. Apologies if that came across as "impatient" to you.

No apology necessary! I actually didn't mean that as a criticism of you specifically. It's a mentality that I've seen all around this board in the past week or so. I think we're all sort of caught up in this whirlwind, and like I said, it's an understandable mindset given the way the news has been tumbling out, with every return announcement being labeled as "Breaking news." I'm sorry too, if I lumped you into that trend unfairly. I do think it's worth considering shows like American Buffalo, but again, I think we'll drive ourselves crazy if we try to keep close tabs on every unannounced show, especially when you throw Off-Broadway into the mix (I know American Buffalo is Broadway, I'm just speaking generally again - because if you consider Off-Broadway too, you realize that MOST cancelled/delayed shows have not yet announced a firm rescheduling)

Looking at all of these titles and opening dates side-by-side... geez... the Tonys are going to be SUPER competitive this next go-round... a year of riches...

As of today... four original scores... Diana, Flying Over Sunset, Six, and Mrs. Doubtfire...

Actresses... Katrina Lenk, Carmen Cusack, Sharon D. Clarke, Jeanna De Waal, Sutton Foster... the cast of Six? (haha)

The cast of Six got a joint nomination for the featured actress category in London. Not sure how Broadway will handle it... Will be interesting to see! I agree though, going to be a great season of new shows I can feel it!

No need to be unsure. I can tell you right now, that won't happen at the Tonys. The Oliviers are notoriously much looser about things like this. The Tony Rules specifically state: "iii) Eligibility for nomination in the Best Performance categories shall be limited to one Actor or Actress for each nomination in such categories." 

The last (only?) time there was a joint nomination for different roles was in 1997 with Side Show, and IIRC that was after some heavy lobbying on the producers' part. For the revival of Side Show in 2014, this was not allowed, and the 2 actors were separately eligible. Even the Billy Elliot precedent is no longer permitted according the rule I quoted above, and that was much more reasonable (i.e nominating multiple actors for the same role, vs nominating multiple actors for completely different roles)

The seven von Trapp children were nominated together for featured actress in 1960. I agree this would be unlikely this year. If I were to choose just one Six actress, I would select Brittany Mack.

Ah yes, thanks for the correction. So Side Show wasn't the only time it happened, but I believe it was the last time. And in any case, it's now against the rules, so it isn't just "unlikely" - it's simply not happening.

I guess if you want to be SUPER technical about it, they still have time to change the rules for next year's Tonys, but why would they? And you could say that about any outlandish rule change. For all intents and purposes, we can safely deduce that a joint nomination is out of the cards.

Girl from the North Country now resuming performances October 13. Previously opened March 5 but wasn't considered in the 2020(? 2021?) Tonys so it'll be up for consideration with the rest of this season

Do we think stagedooring is gonna return when the shows do?! The performers won’t say it obviously, but I bet most of them would be delighted not to do them anymore, if they can use health and safety concerns as the reason!
