Well if Travis is doing Vegas then it'll probably be mentioned somewhere soon. If I remember correctly, a link to the equity call notice for Vegas was posted somewhere in this thread and they were aiming for rehersals to start in Aug. And it mentioned a possible SF engagement before Vegas too, but with all the adds saying "must end sept 30" I think that's not going to happen. But who knows, things can happen and plans can change.

And on another note. Steven Goldsmith and John Michael Dias have some nice pics from the stagedoor, cast gatherings, and the typical SF tourist shots in the photo albums on their sites. Here's the links if you want to check them out.

Kathryn has posted part 2 of the newsletter. http://tinyurl.com/24rsuv

Both John and Steven have pics posted in this thread. If they weren't sent directly from the people who took them, I think they've been checking out this thread. I wouldn't be suprised if they are since Erich posted here a few times.

They have the AIDS walk in the morning and 2 shows later that day. The cast sure is going to be busy this Sunday. And I have to echo Lizzie, if you're going, take some photos.

Hope it's OK to mention London in this thread. You've probably read that previews begin on 28 February. The First Night will be 18 March. Booking opened today so I got some tix though they are now as expesive as in NYC - top seats are £60 = $120.

London is not home turf for the 4 Seasons so I do hope that we get the original Broadway leads or at least JLY and Christian Hoff.

While writing there is the amazing news that Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons look like entering the UK Top 40 for the first time in decades! About 8 months ago, French DJ did a bootleg re-edit of the 1967 hit "Beggin'". It got rave reviews in the "underground", so a UK label, 679, which is a subsidiary of WEA/Warner Bros picked it up and legitimised it with Frankie et al. It's just been released and from interim results it looks like getting into the Top 40 hopefully by Sunday's chart.

I mention this because if Beggin' (the Pilooski re-edit) becomes a significant UK hit, it will help add to the interest in Jersey Boys in London in the build up to next March. And as you know the performance of Beggin' is one of the stand-out moments in the show.

wow it's hard to imagine by next spring, there will be three more cities that will be playing Jersey Boys, incl Chicago, Vegas, and London. (Toronto too? Not sure when Toronto's slated to open...)

Thanks for sharing the news. It'll be interesting to see how this musical will translate in England, and how audiences there will receive this show. Chris Hoff will most likely not be in London, due to his commitment with Pal Joey, altho my thoughts are JLY will be there.

London will be interesting -- the 4 Seasons are known there, but not nearly as big as elsewhere, right?

I kind of hope there won't be too many OBC'ers in that cast. It gives me hope for another cast recording. Jersey Boys London

The article about Jersey Boys in London gives me the impression that they're trying to cast mainly UK actors. The one that mentions JLY reprising Frankie in London sounds like they'll only use him as a last resort. I hope a London cast recording is made, I'd buy it if it materializes.

Edit to add: Sorry, the only article that mentions anything about casting is the one posted on broadwayworld, and they've put David Grindrod incharge of casting the London production. I thought the ones posted on Playbill and Variety also mentiond something about casting but I looked them over again and they were a general press release about the show going to London. What do you guys think about Beggin' becoming a chart hit in the UK? Wouldn't that be cool?

As for casting, I find it hard to imagine a true Brit delivering the line "We put Joisey on the map!" with total accuracy. I'll probably giggle. This is an occasion where I think home grown talent should defer to US imports!

Mll85 where are all the articles? I haven't found any detail myself.

It sure will be interesting when it starts it's run in London.

The story of one of the biggest US musical groups that kept America on the map and fought off the "British Invasion" during the 60's.....

I'm sure that the Jersey Boys will be welcomed with open arms in London or wherever the World Tour goes. Music is universal and new fans of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons' songs will emerge as the play progresses. Now, since the Jersey Boys are reaching out to far away markets, we hope more people join up and start contributing their experiences on Jersey Boys Blog and broadwayworld.com. It will be nice to hear their stories!

It's not too far off from a Winnipeger doing it. ;)

any idea where we can buy that French remix or the UK Version (the Pilooski re-edit) of the "Beggin" you were talking about?

Maybe it will come out in the NOW CD's and then I could get it at Virgin in the future :P

I am glad you got your tickets already. Have you heard of the British tribute band to Frankie? Their website is at

Antonijan - if it's just a CD single you want, it is, according to Billboard, released in the USA as an import. if it's not in your local store, you can get it from Amazon. Just search on Valli Beggin and you'll find the import single which I think ships in the USA next Monday. The CD has the radio edit (3.5 rather than the full 5.5 mins)plus the original 1967 mix.

If you'd like a 12" single you could go to a specialist in the UK like Juno
www.juno.co.uk/products/272531-02.htm+beggin+VALLI+MAIL+ORDER&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=6

Tha advantage of the 12" is that it has the full length 5.5 min Pikooski re-edit,plus also the "Speaker Killer remix" of Beggin' plus the original of "Who Loves You".

I think I had come across the tribute band in a google search but not paid them much attention.

I was told by someone not given to practical jokes that instead of the French version of Oh What a Night the number was done more in a rap style. Frankly, I'm actually embarrassed to post this.

The opening number "Ces Soriee La" is supposed to be done in a rap style. The actual french artist who covered "Oh What A Night" (Yannick is his name if you're interested) is a French rapper.

And on another note, the site for Jersey Boys London is up and running. http://www.jerseyboyslondon.com/

mll85--In which case the confusion maybe is mine. I have seen the show in La Jolla, NY, and LA but I never really thought of the number as an actual rap piece. I guess the other person did see it that way. Interesting.

The guy who sings Frankies part in the British tribute band e-mailed me, he is wanting to try out for Frankie in Jersey Boys.

Anyone know about any casting calls for the London show?

I am putting together a good bye book for Douglas, to let him know how much we all loved him and will miss him. I am adding notes/letters from fans and cast members. If any of you would like to add one send me a pm.

Kathryn, the broadwayworld article mentions that David Grindrod is doing the casting for London if that's any help.

And the book for Doug is a good idea. When are you planning to send the book because I'll pm you with a note for him.
