I'm trying to remain optimistic.  I hate to think that the 2nd amendment was fundamentally flawed but it wouldn't be the first instance.

It's not that the 2nd Amendment is fundamentally flawed.  It's that it is vague, severely outdated, abused and inconsistently applied.
