I was eleven and my parents got me tickets for THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON. I took the bus from New Jersey to New York and saw the show alone. I don't think my parents were aware that the last line of the play was, "Say cunnilingus, coach."

16, I went to see Movin' Out...
It's actually pretty funny-prior to seeing Movin' Out I had a discussion about Broadway "virginity", and actually considered skipping my first ever trip to New York so that I could save my first time for a show I was more excited about... (I'm famous for my anti-Jukebox Musicals stance at my school, and it was just so IRONIC that it would be my first show...)

I was 7 years old and I had just gotten out of the hospital from a massive athsma attack.
I saw the revival of the King and I. I remember thinking "I could totally be one of those kids" and have had the theater bug ever since.
"No two shows are alike in the making. Each show is a living
piece of your life in a small unreal world with its own character
and integrity; its own new set of memorable experiences and
incredible happenings. You begin to love and adapt to its strangeness.
Dreams harden into substance. Values come into focus. You wish
it would never end. The dream world vanishes like mist before a
rising sun; part of you vanishes with it. And back you land in the
real world with a thud- fogged, uneasy, jittery, difficult to get
along with. There is only one cure. A new show. A new, small
unreal world; new visions, experiences, incredible happenings.
Again you love it, adapt to it, wish it would never end.
But end it does. Another part of you vanishes.

Posted: 8/28/06 at 10:31amI saw my first professional show much earlier, but I was 22 when I saw my first show on Broadway- Man of La Mancha (revival). It was the first time I ever got to spend more than a few hours in NY. During that trip, I saw 4 shows.
