Talkin' Broadway All That Chat

Per "www.datalounge.com" and other websites, it looks like a huge number of people have been banned from ATC over the past 10+ years (which is why we now see the same ~10 people posting & "conversing" with themselves). Would advertisers prefer to spend money on web sites with large traffic & number of posters?  I love how easy to use this site is, and the large number of people who post here.

You can just call it Datalounge.

Also, ATC has been even more out of touch than BWW these days.

I use both, and both have pluses and minuses. Both can also be in touch and out of touch. In general, the other board is a more selective and sophisticated place to interact although, as Lizzie says, it has been dispiriting lately, just with less trolls. Bigger though is not necessarily better. Moreover, as to advertising, the two sites are diametric opposites. This site's worst attribute is its advertising on steroids obnoxiousness. Even with the full phalanx of countermeasures, it is sometimes hard to stomach. The other site is not looking to make a profit and the ad assault is minimal. This is America. We still are allowed choices.

That's unfortunate! I have ad blockers on, so the only ones that come through are generally theatre-related.

ATC is very much the old guard and largely unwilling to learn or change. If you thought the "just asking"/"devil's advocate" crowd here was bad... woof! A lot of people there do have great old fun stories, but wading through the muck to get to them is not for everyone.

I still post on ALL THAT CHAT. Some nice posters remain; however, the atmosphere is often very toxic and mean spirited. The moderator is a very rude old lady.

ATC started around 1997 and I'm not sure when Broadway World started. What happened to each board is what happened to online social media platforms in general. They became ritualized spaces for aggregating grievances into attacks on individuals and organizations.
