I just got a Playstation 3 for Christmas and I already collected several games plus a few Blu Rays and I'm having a blast. I'm an 80s generation kid, so I really prefer the lighter fare when it comes to gaming. I absolutely LOVE Little Big Planet and Lego Indiana Jones. I'm planning on getting Lego Batman and Star Wars as well. I think the most "intense" game I own is Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which I'm really enjoying, though I've just started the basic level and I've a feeling it will get very complicated very soon. One of my favorite things about the PS3 is downloading more classic-style arcade games that don't require the memorization of umpteen different stick/button combinations at a moment's notice. Super Stardust HD, a beefed-up visually stunning variation on Asteroids, is my current obsession.

I think my biggest disappointment is not being able to play PS2 games. I never had a PS2 and really wanted to give Kingdom Hearts and DDR a go. re: The Official 'Hey, I Play Video Games' Megathread But if anyone has any recommendations for games, I'd love to hear them. I'm not into military, sports, or gore-based games. I haven't owned a game console since the SNES so, I'd love a little help and guidance. Here's what I have thus far:

Lego Indiana Jones
Little Big Planet
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Wall-E
Ghostbusters
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Sonic the Hedgehog
MotorStorm (It was a gift and I haven't played it yet)

Little Big Planet is great. That's one of my favs too.

For the PS3 I would recommend Uncharted 1 and 2. The gameplay, story, and graphics are all great. It does get a little intense sometimes but in an Indiana Jones sense...it's never really scary. And the controls are pretty easy to pick up.

I'd also recommend the Ratchet and Clank games. They are both really fun platformers.

Does anyone else like the Metroid games? I have Metroid Prime and I got Metroid Prime 2: Echoes for Christmas, and I can't get enough of it.

i've given up my console days (too much time), but bayonetta for the xbox/ps3 looks very intriguing. nothing like kicking ass with a size 40 high-heel boot:

re: The Official 'Hey, I Play Video Games' Megathread

or disposing of foes by using the guns in your high-heels (she wields two guns by hands, and also guns in the heels of her boots, lol. john woo, eat your heart out) while dancing on a stripper pole, and finally summoning the giant demon dragon out her hair, a move rather charmingly referred to as a "wicked weave":

surprised that the more conservative elements haven't complained about this game yet, as it basically seems to have you beating on angels for 15 hours, including disposing of them with some very... graphic means (iron maidens, the ahem, wooden horse...).

"the stage too must experiment - with ideas, with the psychological relationship of men and women, with speech and rhythm forms, with dance and movement, with color and light - or it must and should become a museum product. in an age of terrific implications as to wealth and poverty, as to the function of government, as to peace and war, as to the relation of the artist to all these forces, the theatre must grow up. the theatre must become conscious of the implications of the changing social order, or the changing social older will ignore, and rightly, the implications of the theatre." - hallie flanagan, director of the federal theatre project

Just got wifi for my house and I am now addicted to playing the virtual console games on my Wii! Just bought Super Mario 2 and 3. Super Mario World, Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Secret of Gana. I am having such nostalgia just playing these games. I love it. I'm hoping they'll bring Mario Paint to purchase at the store. I'm planning on getting Donkey Kong and Kirby next. Then I'll have to hold off for a bit more. re: The Official 'Hey, I Play Video Games' Megathread

I just got the first Mass Effect this week because I wanted Mass Effect 2 and I'm loving.
Sadly my Xbox got the red ring of death last night so I won't be able to play for awhile re: The Official 'Hey, I Play Video Games' Megathread

Oh and Bethnor...Bayonetta is awesome.

I'm highly tickled by the fact that one of the leads in Mass Effect 2 is voiced by and modeled on Yvonne Strahovski (Sarah on Chuck). Well, when it's not hitting Uncanny Valley territory and freaking me out. And the spaceship is Tricia Helfer! Hee.

Love Metroid Prime for Wii! I just started, but what a great game so far.

Mister Matt - the Lego Star Wars game is FANTASTIC. I don't like Batman as much as I hoped I would, but Star Wars is definitely worth getting.

I'm looking forward the Harry Potter Lego game in May!

Yes!! If it's half as good as the first one we're in for a treat.
