Is she not interested in doing the role onstage as the hundredth replacement or is she not interested in starring in one of the biggest and most anticipated stage to screen adaptations ever? Because there’s a big difference.

i don’t remember the exact context of her Instagram story statement but I am 99% sure it was in regards to the movie and fans asking her if she’s in discussion on the role…. I don’t think anyone (fans) are talking about “who will be the next Broadway Elphaba?”, certainly in context of a star like her, currently in a show that’s very popular with the young online fan set

In the West End Alexia Khadime played the role for a couple years.

I think that in this day and age, a white Elphaba in the movie will be called out as a missed opportunity. Yes, it's a fantasy and doesn't go into social issues in a deep way, but the musical's pretty much designed for the exact young demographic that will care.

I think there is zero chance Elphaba will not be a person of color, appropriately so. I expect at least one of Fiyero or Nessarose will be as well, and blowback if a character like Boc is BIPOC while most main roles aren’t.

Jordan Fisher as Fiyero?
He can act, sing, dance, do cocky, do romance, he's famous-ish.

I'm still hoping for Brittney Johnson as Glinda

Here is my dream cast for the film adaptation:
Elphaba: Cynthia Erivo
Glinda: Amanda Seyfreid
Fyiero: Harry Styles
Morrible: Viola Davis
Boq: Tom Holland
Nessa: Hailey Kilgore
The Wizard: (not entirely sure on this one...)

Richard Gere?

Matthew Broderick?

I think we'll know the casting in a couple months

They will most certainly have more fun casting the wizard than Matthew Broderick.

I want Amanda Seyfried to play Glinda

This may be a bonkers idea, but is there any chance at all of Liza Minnelli as Morrible? The angle of Judy Garland's daughter in the Wizard of Oz spinoff/prequel is a thought. I have no idea how she's doing health-wise these days, and I know she hasn't been working much in recent years.

Liza’s health is not great to say the least. 20 years ago, maybe.

I would love to see Liza in that role, but it's true, her health isn't the best. I could see them going for Alexandra Billings for Morrible, though.

I wonder if they will take anyone for the original cast. IMO, they're all way too old now, but that's never stopped producers before.

I don't why I never thought of this and this full circle deal would be brilliant...but bonkers in the respect that yeah she isn't in great health nor can I see her coming out of what is basically retirement to do even this minor role. Would I love this to happen? Oh yes. Will it? Not likely. But hey, I guess the next best thing would be to get Lorna Universal's WICKED Film - News & Discussion Thread

For the record I suggested Liza way back when, but could you imagine a Liza/Joel reunion.  Never going to happen.  But Joel seems to be the only original cast member that would still be appropriate.

Someone on here I think suggested Martin Short for the WIzard, and now I can't get it out of my head. I think he's got the right vibe to pull off the faux-harmless vibe the Wizard tries to give off to Oz and Elphaba, at first.

I’d love to see J.K. Simmons play the Wizard. Either that or he could play Max von Mayerling in the Sunset Boulevard movie if it materializes anytime soon

I think Ashley Park would be a FAB Glinda

I’ve always wanted Lorna Luft to play Morrible on Broadway for this exact reason!

I'm gonna say absolutely no on Amanda Seyfried. Just my opinion.

Do any of you stop to think about how you treat others? I have no problem blocking people :)
