Hi, The group sales show performances for a year. Would the leads be contracted the entire time typically? Any advice for someone flying in to see the show? Try to get tickets before April? Could leads be replaced halfway through? Thanks!

The initial interview in the Hollywood Reporter with Scott Rudin said Hugh had committed for a year. Safe to assume that he will be in for whenever tickets are on sale; and you could absolutely get a refund/exchange if a star of his magnitude is out that night. (They also might only put the first few months on sale at first, since his final perf would be 2 whole years away)

That's good to know.  Thanks for the info.  Like Terracentric, I will be flying in (in my case, from the West Coast, 2800 miles).  I would much prefer to see the show toward the end of its run, but only if Hugh Jackman is still with it.

Which now makes me wonder if the other actors (particularly Sutton) have made similar one-year commitments.

I’d think they’d both stay in it through the Tony Awards in June. At least that’s what I’m banking on. I’d like to see it in April 2021, so I hope they are on sale that far out on Saturday. I’m guessing they will be.

I believe Jennifer may have been making a cheeky joke. She played Zaneeta Shinn in a community production of The Music Man.

Aren't copies of the weekend Arts & Leisure delivered to media people Thursday? (they did that as of a few years ago when I worked as an assistant at a talent agency)... So surprised that word of what theatre hasn't leaked yet.

I am SO curious as to what the lowest ticket price will be, and if they'll have any SRO/Rush policy. Hmmm. Anyone have any predictions on the likelihood of this?

When you check the ticket prices from the broadway bound link posted above, the lowest ticket price is listed as $120. Hopefully the ticket prices go down but for now they are unbelievably high.

I can only imagine the ticket prices will go UP.

Didn't "Hello Dolly" ticket prices go down after it opened?

I'll be surprised if there isn't a $99 price point. In recent memory, I haven't seen a show whose lowest ticket price was over $100 at the time of the initial sale. Granted, this is a different animal, but I'm expecting there will be at least 1 row of "cheap" seats.

It's playing out at Bob and Sally Shubert's house in Queens. Lovely little home, 4 BR/2BA, very big family room. I imagine they can seat 50 or so if they bring in the folding chairs from the garage. The limited capacity would explain the higher than usual ticket prices.

Wowza. Has a show ever sold tickets without announcing a theatre? It’s a nightmare dealing with a hypothetical seating chart. Remember when DEH was originally announced for the Belasco? I ended up with worse seats when they moved to the Music Box.

I was planning on buying a ticket tomorrow but there is no way I am going to without a theatre announcement. It sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

Hardly a disaster waiting to happen.  At 8am EST tomorrow everything will be on the Telecharge site.  In all my decades of seeing shows, the location of the theatre has nothing to do with how I decide if I want to see a specific show.

Several years ago when the "Hello, Dolly!" tickets went on sale, there really was no official announcement until the morning of as everything was based off of a Tweet that Bette M had posted saying that tickets would be going on sale on that Saturday morning.  Many of us here on the boards called Telecharge, and were pretty much all told the same thing..............."we don't know anything yet."  And, of course, the system crashed that morning, and it was the largest 1 day sale in the history of Broadway.

There was a 'placeholder' page on telecharge for the last few months, but that is suddenly gone

He's not talking about the location of the theatre, but the location of the seats you're purchasing. Asking people to shell over hundreds of dollars without knowing where they're sitting IS a disaster waiting to happen, so, hopefully, it will all be sorted out before tomorrow.

If you do a Google search for "Music Man Telecharge" you can still find some of the page areas - when I clicked into one of them it took me into a ticket queue system for tomorrow. No idea if they'll wind up using the virtual waiting room system tomorrow, but from that, it certainly looks like it.

CT2NYC, no Broadway show on Telecharge or Ticketmaster has ever sold tickets without telling someone the exact seat location - be it in person at the box office, on the phone, or on their respective sites.

I get that, but having it be a "best available" situation instead of being able to select from a seating chart is bound to cause aggravation later on. Having said that, I'm still assuming that it'll be the Winter Garden, when all is said and done.
