Did anyone go to the screening at Kips Bay last night with Nikki and Elijah? If so, did you take pictures? Or know where we can see pictures online? I was there, but my pictures turned out really crappy.
Mateo== the LEAD? No way...Marc wrote such amazing arrangements and harmonies..that's where the real fun is! (rummaging in my closet for my best Dynamites outfit!) GO MAMMA GO GO GO !!
Wow! I want to go to one of the L.A ones! It'll be the perfect place to break out my "Penny" outfit and overload on hair styling products! Now that there's a sing-a-long, my friend won't be completely embarrassed by me! When we went to see it opening day, I managed to hold back until the credits, but then once about 75% of the audience left, I started singing along with Mama I'm A Big Girl Now. Now when I feel the urge to really belt it out on every song, I can, and not run the risk of my friend dying of shame!

"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!" -E!'s "The Soup"
If you go- let me know... cause I am pretty sure of this info.
have a good time!

Although I didn't attend a sing-a-long, the little girl sitting next to me (could have been no more than 7) was singing along with "Run and Tell That". It was kind of cute, but I'm glad she didn't sing throughout the movie.

My daughter and I went to the sing-along at Crossgates in Albany and it was underwhelming. There were 14 people in the theatre (12:45 showing) and my daughter was the only one singing and even then only perked up on "Ladies' Choice" and "Without Love."
I'm sure (or hope) the atmosphere was quite different in NYC, but here, pretty much DOA.
Isn't it a little too early to have a sing along? It's only the third weekend of release so it's not like it's reached cult status yet. They should have waited a year or at least a few months to do this. And it's running all week? I loved the play and the film but I don't think America (outside of this board) knows the material well enough to seek out a dress up sing along version just yet.

I bought tickets to a showing the other day and did not realize it was for the "sing-a-long" version until I walked away from the BO. It was not advertised as such, the person at the BO did not tell me it was a "sing-a-long", there were no signs... And when I saw it printed on the ticket I said, "Hell, NO!" I was able to exchange for a later showing, thank God.
Then I got to thinking about it. Who is so familiar with the music of this show that they would be ABLE to sing along? It just seems that they are trying to FORCE this film to be absorbed into our national consciousness.
I am interested to hear how these are selling. And I mean selling to people who actually KNOW that they are buying tickets to the "sing-a-long". Are there any figures on that yet?
How do the sing-a-longs work? Are the words on the screen with a bouncing ball? Or is it just assumed that people will know the words? I've never been to one before. (And given my ears pickiness about pitch and so forth, I probably won't...I'm just curious)
