Anybody know which schools UArts is doing unifieds with? Or how you find out? Because there are other school that are going to be in Chicago Feb. 5, 6, and 7 (which is when UArts Unifieds are)...but the other schools' websites don't specify whether their auditions are unified. Ehh...

What schools do you mean? umm, you can probably call each school and ask, but normally it should be posted on their website under audition information...

like for me, im scheduled to do..
Boston conservatory,CCM and Otterbein on the 3rd and 4th of feb (NYC Unifieds)

Then Carnegie Mellon, University of Michigan and Ithaca on the 5th and 6th of february (chicago unifieds)

you can call each school and ask...

lovelyspotlight, I'll post the link I posted on the first page of this discussion.

http://www.unifiedauditions.com/universities.htm

It lists all the schools, including UArts, which are involved in this year's Unifieds. Any other schools which you're interested in should be contacted individually to determine whether or not they are holding regional auditions at around the same time. What schools are you already scheduled to audition for at the Unifieds?

The comment about acceptance rates being slightly higher at the Unifieds was, I believe, in reference to Otterbein's experience there and their incoming class last year. The reason that the head of the program gave for this was the seriousness of those who auditioned at the Unifieds. They apparently get many kids who audition on campus because it's convenient, apparently many who are not serious drama students. That is less likely to happen at the Unifieds where kids are spending the money and flying in from all over th U.S., paying for hotels, etc. So, while the acceptance rate may be higher for individual schools, it was not said in the light that your chances were increased. Just wanted to clear that up.

lovely the auditions aren't unified, they just call it that because all the colleges convene in one place to hold their seperate auditiongs. you have to schedule auditiongs with each separate school for each seperate auditions, some give you an audition time when you submit your application, but for some you have to schedule it yourself.

Ohhh...

Man, everything is a LOT more clear now. Thanks. Just one more question: the unifieds in Chicago are February 5, 6, and 7. Since you audition separately for the different schools...that means that you DON'T have to be there all three days (unless you have auditions scheduled all three days)? Or...? I guess I'm asking if there are going to be any schools which will ask auditionees to audition on more than one day.

(And sorry for not necessarily reading the very beginning of the thread before I posted.) =/

>Does anyone have any info on the actual audition process, ...

Here is the summary of Unified Audtions:

1) Unified Audtions means a bunch of schools agree to audition applicants at the same time at the same place. It does not mean one 3 day long audition for all the schools.

2) Each school has its own audition and audition requirements. In other words, you don't audtion for all the schools at the same time.

3) Count on 1/2 day for each audtion/school (morning or afternoon timeslot). There might be some group stuff before individual audtions.

4) Other schools also audition at the same time, but are not part of the official Unified List (Carnegie Mellon, Juilliard, New York University, Depaul, Univ of MN, to name a few).

The Unified Audition schedule tells you when BFA schools are likely to be in the area. Apply to the schools you want, and request an audition. It is a convenient way to get them all done at once, and not have to waste a lot of time traveling around. If you have not requested a timeslot yet, it is probably too late.

Some schools use the audtion as a "first cut". Schools like Juilliard and U of MN will do callbacks on campus at a later date. For those schools, if you are not called back, you are probably not being considered. It is hard to tell from the application materials for a particular school (other than Juilliard) whether they have a second callback or not (not mentioned in the U of MN material). They also do not tell you the date for the callbacks (don't plan that trip to Florida for spring break).

If you want the actual audition process for a particular school, you have to go to that school's website and look it up.

My son is a high school junior and we're all set for LA Unified Auditions. Now, he's having a hard time finding any programs that will auction juniors. Any suggestions?
