We have so much in common,
It's a phenomenon. (GYPSY).

A lot from Assassins, but in particular:
"But traitors just get jeers and boos
not visits to their graves
While Lincoln who got mixed reviews
Because of you, John, now gets only raves."

Here's my three:

When a person's personality is personable,
He shouldn't oughta sit like a lump.
It's harder than a matador coercin' a bull
To try to get you off-a your rump.

- You Could Drive A Person Crazy, Company

The hands on the clock turn,
But don't sing a nocturne
Just yet...

- Night Waltz, A Little Night Music

You'll just leave him a clue.
For example: A shoe.
And then see what he'll do.
Now it's he and not you who is stuck with a shoe
In a stew
In the goo
And you've learned something too.
Something you never knew
On the steps of the palace!

- On the Steps of the Palace, Into the Woods

The man's such a frickin' genius.

just so much better then Being Alive
“Someone to need you too much
Someone to read you too well
Someone to bleed you of all
The things you don’t want to tell-
That’s happily ever after,
Ever, ever, ever after
In hell.” (Happily Ever After)

"It started out like a song, we started quiet and slow with no surprise,
Then one morning I woke to realize we have a good thing going.
It's not that nothing went wrong, some angry moment of course, but just a few,
And only moments no more because we knew we had a good thing going." Good Thing Going is one of the most beautiful songs ever written

"It's the fragment, not the day.
It's the pebble, not the stream.
It's the ripple, not the sea
That is happening.
Not the building but the beam,
Not the garden but the stone,
Only cups of tea
And history
And someone in a tree." someone in a tree is the best song ever!

Ok, so my production of Company opens tonight, so I'm on a Company kick...bear with me. Here are a few I love..

One more thing,
Softly said.
With this rign,
I the wed.

If you're quick for a kick you could pick up a christening,
But please, on my knees, there's a human life at stake!

Or perhaps, i'll collapse, in the apse, right before you all.

Knock-knock! Is anybody there?
Knock-knock! It really isn't fair.
Knock-knock! I'm workin' all my charms.
Knock-knock! A zombie's in my arms.
All that sweet affection!
What is wrong?
Where's the loose connection?
How long, O Lord, how long?

Exclusive you!
Elusive you!
Will any person ever get the juice of you?

On the Company note:

"Go, can't you go,
Look you know I adore you all
But why watch me die
Like Eliza on the ice
Look perhaps I'll collapse
In the apse right before you all
So take back the cake
Burn the shoes
and boil the rice"

There are so many other good ones - but one more I love:

"A weekend in the country we should try it"
"How I wish we'd been asked"
"A weekend in the country, peace and quiet"
"We'll go masked"
"A weekend in the country"
"Uninvited? They'll consider it odd"
"A weekend in country, I'm delighted!"
"Oh my God."
"And the shooting should be pleasant,
if the weather's not too rough
Happy birthday, it's your present"
"but..."
"You haven't been getting out nearly enough"

...plant them and they soar
here you want some more
listen to the roar
giants by the score...

(i know it doesnt rhyme but:)
you may know what you want
but to get what you need
better see that you keep what you have

and:
is that just disgusting
all greasy and gritty
it looks like its molting
and tastes like--
--well pity...

to name just a select few...

you may know what you need but to get what you want better see that you keep what you have

I'm going to be broad.

The whole darn lyrics in Assassins, Sweeney, and Company.

If Percy Blakeney were in Les Mis....

Percy: Sink me! If it isn't Javvurt!
Javert: Zsah-vair, it's pronounced Zsah-vair.
Pecry: But it's spelled J-A-V-E-R-T Javvurt.
Javert: Repeat after me Zsah...Zsah....
Percy: Oh! Zsa-Zsa! Like the Gabor sister! Well I personally have always prefered Eva.
Javert: (Looks for gun)

"Once I was a schlepper,
Now I'm Miss Mazeppa."

Has anyone else ever used the word "schlepper" in a song?

(I agree that this lyric is brilliant: "The lord's my employer, and now he's my lawyer." But, then again, so many are. How can you pick a "favorite"???)

always loved this-

"You're sorry-grateful,
Regretful-happy.
Why look for answers
When none occur?
You'll always be what you always were,
Which has nothing to do with, all to do with her."

Not so much for the rhyming, but for the meaning

Hey fella, feel like you're a failure,
baliff on your tail, your
wife run off for good?

Hey fella, feel misunderstood?
Come 'ere and kill a president
