I saw a touring version of Grease years back...I forgot about that one, even though it wasn't technically on Broadway.

Peter Pan was my very first. I was 8. I skipped school to see the matinee with my dad :) It was pouring rain that day and my dad was really sick.

Showboat was my first huge, brass production...I was 12.

The Fantasticks on Sullivan Street was my first "real" play at 7.

First B'Way show: Phantom of the Opera

I was 13 and my sister wanted to see POTO so my dad bought her and my mom a ticket but my mom didn't want to go so I had to take her place. I'm glad I went! Now I love Phantom and my sister hates it!

The first Broadway show I saw was "The Phantom of the Opera" in 1998 when I did my first trip from Switzerland to NYC. It was even my birthday.

In the meantime I've been in NYC 3 times and plan to go once a year if possible to always see a couple of great musicals and plays.

Indeed, Joshbstn ... seems like a young, BUT enthusiastic board! Nonetheless, hundreds of shows later, I can still vividly recall my first:

"Invitation to A March" at the Music Box, 1960

It was written and directed by Arthur Laurents. The small, great cast included Celeste Holm, Eileen Heckart, Madeline Sherwood, Richard Derr, Jane Fonda, and James MacArthur. AND, it featured original music by Stephen Sondheim!

This was to be the first of so MANY Broadway/West End/and International productions!

My first show was Les Miserables, and I too, was introduced to it via a class trip in the nose-bleed section. And I too, was hooked to theatre after that. I always liked to sing and act, but it wasn't until I saw that show, that I knew and felt that I had to be on a Broadway stage. Well, that's my personal "epiphany".

The original production of CHICAGO with Gwen Verdon, Chita Rivera and Jerry Orbach. As much as I've enjoyed seeing the revival three times and the movie three times, nothing compares to that first time.

My first show was 42nd Street when I was in High School. I liked it then I saw Dreamgirls the next night and decided it was not nearly as good as that. Still don't care much for 42nd Street.

Beatlemania -- worst seats in the house (well, almost, at least we weren't in the boxes). I was 12 & it was great fun. Barely remember it now.

My first musical was a production of Carousel in Chicago when I was just a pup. My relatives tried to get me up for the show by telling me that there would be a real merry-go-round on the stage. That carousel and the scene when Billy has died and gone to wherever are about all I remember. My first Broadway show was Phantom of the Opera.

Bells are Ringing. Opening Night. Last row mezz at the Schubert. Worst seats in the house. I wouldn't remember though. I was little young.

My first was 42nd STREET. Kristine Ebersole's "I Only Have Eyes For You" made me cry. I was actually in New York, seeing a Broadway show, seeing a famous Broadway actress sing a traditional Broadway showtune. I cried during the finale too.

First show that I saw, which introduced me to theatre, was the Goodtimes video of Mary Martin as PETER PAN. Still own that VHS today, which is no longer playable, since it was viewed so many times. I now own the DVD.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

The first show I ever saw was Annie when I was three. I got hooked immediately. My first Broadway show was the revival of Gypsy that I saw a little while ago.
