i personally know that im one of those people who hiss and boo stars coming into roles and then run to see them...so maybe if we all just give her a chance...i know it wont make her performance any better but..if we just wait instead of pre-judgement.

I *don't* hiss and boo at stars coming into a role.. I give everyone a fair chance.... but yeah.. Melanie? I've been bitching and moaning since she was rumored, and I won't stop till she's gone lol

Hopefully she'll be another Angie Stone and miss an assload of performances, allowing for the Roxie Standby and understudies to go on. Personally I'd like to see Michelle Potterf or Michelle DeJean go on as Roxie :)

do you mean Deborah Lee Furness wife of Hugh Jackman. You'll be seeing a lot of her when he arrives with Boy from OZ. She never leaves his side. She is quite a few years older than him.

I find the tattoo so stupid BUT, Melanie is going to be in Chicago, so she is justified in being at the Tony Awards. Also, and very important to me...they both are so grateful and supportive of being on the stage in NYC. NYC needs support, bravo to them both.

I've never said she was untalented as a FILM actor. But a stage performance does not have the luxury of re takes & close ups& gels & doubles to cover for your personal limitations. Look @ the number of sharp cuts in Chicago the film. It's dizzying! Thats why you can use less trained performers and still have a cohesive dance film. I love dance as a medium and find this is a travesty & NOT in the good way ( ballet joke there!)

I hope you are not refering to Academy-Award winner Catherine Zeta-Jones who began dancing at like the age of three and got her start doing musical theatre, including playing Peggy Sawyer in a European production of 42nd Street.

NO I am specifically exempting CZJ. She has the chops & just hadda get 'em back. Frankly she& the ensemble carry the dance sequences .But look @ the tap dance sequence of Gere I STILL wonder if the close up work used WAS his feet ( yes I Know they said in the film they did ALL their own dance work but some times studios are economical with the truth) Renee in the Hot Honey Rag has so many cuts I'd bet she never danced for more than 5-6 min @ a time. I KNOW from the stunt co-ord who did the flying for We Both Reached For the Gun said he & his boys did it dozens of times all to the music.(mind outa the gutter!) That is what the medium is good for close ups, diff POV, And visuals without aurals. Sorry this is turning into a rant but I had my little dreams brought down to reality when i studied dance & a good tabloid recognition factor is not enough enough to me to allow a great dance sequance to be slashed to pieces to accomodate a non trained dancer. ( takes a deep breath in... & lets it out)

I just wanted to make sure the Zeta was exempted from the statement. Frankly, she was one of the highlights of the film -- that I will be seeing again during the rerelease.

I too have my doubts about Gere's dancing.

'Economic' with the truth is a bit, ok, a lot, of an understatement.

There shall be no reviews from yours truly until August. Once Melanie starts, I am vetoing the show until the week Rob Bartlett plays Amos -- the week of August 9th :)

Ya know my girl friend pointed out something to me. She's an actor, taking the work that has been offered to her. MUCH of the fault here lies in the producers who are willing to bastardize a work in order to increase their coinage. SHAME!

Yes, very true. The producers have as much of the blame as she does. But (and I could be, and probably am wrong) it seems to me that she went and courted a role on Broadway because Antonio is doing Nine. I wish she'd taken something less challenging! :)

But like I said, I'm waiting for her reviews. I'm nervous, though, that she's going to hurt the show.
