I would never support "Theatermania" so Im good just to pay the show directly. Theatermania gets a cut (similar to food apps) that is unfair to the production. It's 36.50 total if you buy it directly from here.

So do we think they’re going to have a bigger discount as they get more desperate to sell tickets?

I do have to say that it is inspired casting. Too bad NBC did not pick it up.

Because I'm taking a workshop/discussion session next week with Arden and Mays, they sent me the ability to purchase for one ten bucks.  I plan on watching tomorrow.

Just purchased my tix and WOOSH those fees.  My ten dollar ticket came to nearly TWENTY bucks!  And I checked - my code is listed as a one time use only - sorry peeps.

Is that workshop/discussion with Mays/Arden open to the public?

May's is a truly fine actor, there's no doubt about it, but ever since I AM MY OWN WIFE, I'e found that he does strange this with his eyes (does he make them too wide?) And I find it to be distracting.

Really, it makes me feel uncomfortable.

The cost of this has definitely stopped quite a few people I know from watching this- and the fact that includes ticket seller fees is absurd. It seems to me like this would invite even more ripping and sharing of the video

Watched this last night and thought it was excellent. Mays is the perfect actor for this project, and there were a few sections where I felt totally transported into the world of the play. I lost the lottery, but used the discount code in the notification email. I thought this stream was well worth the discounted price.

I had the opportunity to see this the other night. Fortunately, I it was someone else who had paid. I was completely fascinated by this production. Jefferson Mays gave a wonderful performance. While I truly enjoyed what I saw, I think the price tage is twice as expensive as it should be. Either this needed to be for profit, or it needed to be a fund raiser; attempting to be both means fewer people will be watching, due to the price tag. In any case, if you have the opportunity to see this at someone else's expense, or if you are willing to shell out the hefty sum to watch, you will surely enjoy the show.

Intersting news from my workshop:this was filmed in two different way; the streaming version we've been watching and a future film release (next year). We were told they are markedly ifferent. They also I hope to bring it to beay.

When I emailed their website to explain that as a teacher, I’d love to show this to my students, so could they make an exception for educators and expand the viewing period to three days, their response was “We can’t, but you can buy three separate show tickets.” ??? Good luck with your show, producers!

They arent required to give you any special treatment. Sure, it'd be nice....but they have every right to refuse that request.

There is probably something in the contracts they have that prevents them from doing this. I was trying to do a movie screening for a non-profit and had to go through so many avenues to clear the rights and still had to pay a lot of money.

Your sense of entitlement is gross. Yes, a show wants to make money, what a SHOCKER.

This is a really special show, and I didn't mind paying for it at all since it goes to the arts.

I saw this and thought it was absolutely brilliant. Jefferson Mays is always excellent, and the way he throws himself into this is truly thrilling. He’s able to snap back and forth between the roles so seamlessly, and even his narration is filled with so much character.

Michael Arden’s direction perfectly compliments the leading actor. The lighting and set give it as a epic a feel as it can get. I did find it a little hard to understand Jacob Marley and the Ghost of Christmas Past due to the vocal filters they used on Mays. Probably should’ve toned them down a little bit, as he was already doing enough heavy lifting to get the characters down, but it was only a minor inconvenience, and I could get all their liens for the most part.

It’s a shame that the deal for it is rather bad. You pay all that money and then it’s gone 24 hours later. Sure, that also works with live theatre, but that’s not professionally shot video like this. There probably should’ve been more options, like if you payed more you could keep watching as long as you like.

Overall though, really loved what I got. A great Christmas treat.

I watched today and thought it was awesome. Mays is brilliant as always and the design approach was super exciting as well. I thought the lighting in the conversation between Scrooge and Marley was particularly amazing. I would love to see this live in NYC in a future year. The projections, lighting, acting, all worked so well together.

Semi spoiler: I also found the montage at the end of ghost of Christmas Past really moving. At first I found the music choice weird but it was very effective as it grew.

What a difference a year makes.

Last year, I bought a $20 rush ticket to see the show. Sat front row center. And the house was -  at best  -50% capacity.

It was very well done and Mays' skill is unquestionable.  But at the end of the day it's still A Christmas Carol. And no amount of skill or talent can elicit anything new or exciting  from that beat dead story.

I won the lottery a few days before Christmas and finally got a chance to watch it today. Jefferson Mays was fantastic as expected, and I really enjoyed the lighting and sound design of the show. Also I wasn't aware of how many Christmas songs Sufjan Stevens had recorded, so I'm set on Christmas music for next year now. I'm glad I didn't spend the full $60+ on it, but it's definitely worth the discounted price.

Thoroughly enjoyed this production! My daughter is interested in getting the songs. Does anyone know if they are available? Thanks

I second that, I thought the use of music was awesome and I’d love to get another listen to the piece used during the Christmas Past ending, even if it’s a bit late to listen to more Christmas tunes.

You forgot to say Bah, Humbug.

Just because a story has been told before doesn't mean it's not worth telling again, especially if you're going to tell it this well.

I finally found the song over Christmas Past yesterday! It’s “Justice Delivers it’s Death” by Sufjan Stevens
