Are these statements on Twitter? I don't see them on their websites. (I don't do twitter or IG)

If possible, can you post them for those few of us who are not on Twitter?

Per the Public's FB:

"The deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, and Breonna Taylor have demonstrated in horrific fashion the racism upon which our country was built. We mourn the loss of these Black men and women, and are grieved and outraged by their deaths. The Public was founded as a theater by, for and of the people, yet it has taken us far too long to proclaim the simple truth: Black Lives Matter. We must stand in solidarity with Black artists, Black staff members, and Black citizens. We must do more, much more, to fight the racism that infects every institution in the country, the Public included. We must recognize that the Public itself must change, if we wish to live up to our own ideals. If “We Are One Public,” then the pain and oppression being visited on our Black citizens must also be our pain. Tomorrow, we will honor these four lives lost at our Gala. Out of this crucible we will all either become better or become worse. The Public is determined to be on the side that fights racism and inequality manifested inside and outside of our walls. We will release a fuller statement of accountabilities and actions in the coming days. Words matter, but not as much as actions. Hold us accountable."

It sounds like there's a specific mea culpa here - does anyone know what they're referring to?

I know you. I know you. I know you.

Yeah, still nothing.

But you should still be able to view a twitter account without having one yourself.

Something's up with Broadway.com's Twitter page. They have over 300k followers, and a good number of their posts don't have more than 100 favorites. I'm not accusing them of anything, but a follower-to-favorite ratio like that suggests bots.

Wicked made up for theirs from yesterday earlier today.

JLP forgot to add Tony McDade .

I mean jagged little pill put out a direct, clear message two days ago, that said their names! Shows like Hamilton and the Lion King who employ large numbers ofblack and non-black poc performers have yet to say anything. I appreciate what some other shows are doing, but as a woman of color, I can tell when it is performative."

Exactly. Same. Also as a Black person, I don't give two damns about what most of these shows/theaters are posting at the 11th hour. Miss me with that.

The Public has postponed their gala.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CA4GPLFl0DR

We have made the decision today to postpone our virtual event: WE ARE ONE PUBLIC which was scheduled for tomorrow night, June 1. In this time of national trauma, when the Covid crisis has so disproportionately impacted the Black community, when the injustices of our way of life have been made so clear, it just feels wrong for us to sail ahead with our event. We deeply believe in our theater, and in the importance of the work we do, but this is not the moment to focus on the Public. This is a time for mourning and reflection. We will continue to hold ourselves accountable, and if you feel we are falling short, we will listen. Kenny Leon, our board member and the director of this event, and Oskar will release a brief video message on our website at 8pm on Monday.

Sure that's a powerful statement from Hadestown. But you know what would have been more powerful? To not have an all-white creative and producing team.

Yep. Sadly, the vast majority of the theater industry has its work cut out for itself when it comes to diversity. ESPECIALLY on creative and production teams.

SIX has the best response so far. Completely void of any awkward self promotion.

Hmm, what? It basically reads "SIX (oh yeah in capital letters) is amazing and inclusive. SIX is this and that. It is OUR duty. OUR fans please do this and that". Shameless self promotion. This isn't about what Six do or don't.

I assume the post about it not being self-promotions was sarcasm?

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

It wasn’t sarcasm. Perhaps it was too much to say it was completely void of promotion, but no where did it list awkward song lyrics or try a major tie in. They reference their fans and the show itself, but then spend 99% of the posts on actual resources and issue based dialogue.

"use that pride in our hearts to lift us up till tomorrow, cause just to sit still would be a sin"
- I've been listening to alot of versions of 'I know where I've been' from 'Hairspray'. The song just seems Soo appropriate for what's going on right now. The actors fund should call up some of the Motormouths they used in their YCSTB video to come together and sing. That'd be awesome.

A long time lurker here. finally jumping in to say it's a full 24 hours later and there has been nothing from Broadway.com. They should be ashamed. I avoided them before and I'll be sure to continue doing so.

Nothing from 'Broadway Across America' either (they are owned by the same parent company.)

Has anyone reached out to them via social media?
