The time seems short, sure, but there’s so much that goes into it. It’s a full work day.

Really intrigued by this. I have the London cast recording and love it. The only thing holding me back is the 75 min run time.

Anyone else wondering how alternates are going to work in this show? This show has been notorious for its bad management and have shuffled queens around to fill out quotas in the 4 productions they have around the world (Bliss, West End, UK Tour, and America). They’ve brought in last minute covers (Renée Lamb, Toby Marlow, Genesis Lynea) and have even brought back queens who left (Vicki Howard came back to cover even though she had left the show 6 days earlier).

I can’t remember the last time they’ve had a consecutive week of the regular cast. Does this break any Equity guidelines or does each character not need a dedicated understudy? I love this show but their management  seems to be screwing them over

To anyone concerned about the running time -

When I first went into the show in London, I thought it was a bit ridiculous to pay for a musical that length. But after that first time, before I’d even left the building I had downloaded the cast recording and was listening to it and then bought a ticket for the next day. It may be short but damn, is it good. It’s a fully realized show and I’ve yet to hear anyone who’s actually seen it say that they felt short-changed in any way.

According to Twitter, they didn’t allow it at the dress rehearsal but that may change with previews or opening night.

This!

I have seen it 8 times now with 8 different sets of people and the first thing that comes out of their mouth when it finishes is 'I can't wait to see it again!'.

There was not an issue in Chicago other than Pauly and Hicks planned departures.  I dont recall reading about any issues in Boston either

Agreed! Do NOT miss this because of the runtime. You will not leave dissatisfied or thinking it was missing something.

If it's a matter of budget, you can see this show from any location and it will have the same effect, so go cheaper. In fact, I think farther back gives you more of a concert experience, which is perfect for this one.

Something that was pointed out to me on Twitter was that Six and Waitress are both running in the West End in two completely different sized theatres, while on broadway they would have played the same space. Weird how that worked out.

Not really weird. The west end has a lot more venues that vary in size. Broadway is all pretty standard. They all have to be 500+ seats.

Six is playing 'Off' West End in a small arty theatre with 450 seats.

But the UK tour is playing to sold-out 2 - 3,000 seater venues every night and is just about to start it's 3rd run of the same counties.

I echo everyone's sentiments about the runtime. I've seen Six three times and it feels like a fully realized production. You will not walk away feeling dissatisfied or shortchanged. It's extremely fast paced and high energy for the full show (minus one ballad number).

If you can, get seats closer to the front. I sat front row twice and its really a different experience getting to interact with the queens. Cleve's song and the Megasix both have a decent amount of audience interaction. I hope the filming of the Megasix is allowed because it's a neat memory from the show. Tbh the diehard fans will probably record anyway like the Boston and St. Paul runs.

This comment is NOT intended to throw shade at anyone, so please don’t interpret it that way but: I just find it funny how often folks on here complain that shows are too long and there should be more 90-minute shows. Then, you have Six, a well put together and fabulous show that’s worth every penny that’s only 15 minutes shorter than any given 90-minute play or musical and people are up in arms about the run time.

I completely share the feeling of “not getting your dollars worth” of entertainment (especially at Broadway prices) but I think many people are going to walk away from this feeling completely satisfied. I definitely was.

Interesting to note that while waiting in line today for rush seats that never materialized, I noticed the monitor above the box office listed the running time at 1hr 40 minutes with no intermission.

As for the 1 hour 40 minutes running time: well, there is the preshow music which is pretty wonderful as more and more members of the audience start to clue in on what they are listening to. Maybe they are counting that?

It’s just kind of what sets this show apart from others, it’s an interesting thing that they let them do and it’s fun to watch all the different alternates and the way the cast members interact with the audience. It’s also been an amazing way of free advertisement for the show. It’s not super important like we’ll never support the show again but it’s a little disappointing
