My wife and I were dragged to go and see "In The Heights" years ago and to put it mildly were not big hip hop fans. Much to our surprise, we loved it -lol.

Ahmy said: "Beautiful. I only went because I ended up winning the ticket lottery when the tour stopped in Vancouver. I had no idea what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised. And might drag my mom to see it when (I think it's the 2nd national tour, although it's not on their website.) it goes to Victoria.
Be More Chill is another show that I went in preparing to strongly dislike. (I found a $20 ticket on stubhub, and figured I should at least give it a chance). I don't love it, but I didn't hate it at all, and I know middle school/high school me would've loved it.
"

Beautiful is on it's 3rd national tour.

I suppose I’ve never gone into a show expecting to hate it although I have been worried some might disappoint me and had some trepidation about. And certainly that has come to pass. But on the others side, I had high hopes initially for Moulin Rouge!, but then it received a fair amount of vitriol on here and I started worrying that I would be very disappointed in it. Well, it turns out it was my favorite show of the 8 I saw on my recent trip.

The OBC bridges of Madison county. With that awful marketing I feared it would be soo boring. Went on a whim with a cheap rush ticket and was blown away.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Mean Girls. Bought tickets as a Christmas present for my teen daughters and was prepared to “take one for the team.” Was laughing hysterically within the first 5 minutes. Not exactly a classic, but good, campy fun that was elevated by the talented OBC.
