I saw last night's 10pm show (Sunday, Dec 22) & James Monroe Iglehart was in. Also a girl whose name I am forgetting right now. The show was "fire" as the kids say. There was a heckler right at the start calling them facsists because he had to lock up his phone & Iglehart was angry! Heckler was escorted out by security, but gave them plenty to riff on the rest of the night.
If there hadn't been the option to see this at 10pm I don't think I would have bothered seeing it. Leaving, I heard people who were seeing things like the Illusionists later in the week saying that they wished that instead they had tickets to see this again. Don't think it was sold out - there were whole rows empty in the mezzanine.

The age recommendation for this on the website is 14 and up.  Is this because of language?  How often is the f-word typically used in a show, for example?  Just wondering if this is something I'd feel comfortable bringing my family to.

Last night at the 7pm show the f-word was used only a handful of times, and swear words themselves are usually just filler to get to a punchline or generic intensifiers and glossed over pretty quickly.

Im not aure this is for me, but at rush prices, I'll be good!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I went twice and both times there was a lot of cursing ... but in my experience -- kids age 12 and up also curse a lot so it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

Second time, 10pm show, this past sat night...2nd row - dead center -- a couple from the cast I saw the first time and others -- not nearly as good .. disappointing because I brought my teen who wants to be a hip hop music producer so I thought he'd really love it .. but so much stumbling for words .. and chris jackson was in it and really does not have this skill. I'll leave it at that. The audience seemed to enjoy it more than we did."

I saw the 7pm show on 12/22, politely disagree on Chris Jackson. Maybe he was just off the night you saw him, but he was amazing! He rolled right along with everyone else on stage, no studders or stops. Show was awesome!
