It wasn't always easy to suspend disbelief enough to see Patti as the mother of two ten year olds 11 years ago in Gypsy. She, and many of the other older actresses mentioned, are not reading young enough to believably be the mother of 10 year old twins. Now they could drop the twins entirely, but I think it's important that Miranda's family life be maintained for the character to work.
After watching those 10 moments we hope to see-and they all were memorable and would have to be in the musical---I would just HATE[and I won't be] to be in the audience at any performance when the audience screams when a familiar line is uttered.
