Aw, I’ll be disappointed if Emily Skinner doesn’t continue with it. She’s such an underrated talent.

Betty Buckley, perhaps? I'm personally definitely in Donna Murphy/Patti LuPone camp, but strongly doubt it's Patti since she'll be in Company next summer.

Ebersole would destroy this

I don't know, maybe she wants to branch out into more original musicals... she hasn't originated a Broadway score since Marie Christine. She also wouldn't be single-handedly shouldering the burden of the box office here, since the property comes with so much name value (and her box office record is spotty).

That said, she still has a small child and might not want to commit to an out of town + a year on Bway.

I too would be very saddened if Emily Skinner doesn’t get to move forward. This show doesn’t need a “name” even a broadway “name”, I honestly thought this would be a perfect showcase for Skinner, something she hasn’t really had since Side Show (which was obviously extremely short lived), who I agree is extremely underrated.

Miranda has to start chewing that scenery BEFORE her entrance, so just give it to Baranski.

Oh how I wish Debbie Reynolds could have done this.

Sean Hayes for Nigel please.

I know it's fun to play the casting game, but IMHO some of the individuals mentioned seem a tad too old for the role.
Miranda isn't someone who's close to retirement.

A good point to remember. It wasn't always easy to suspend disbelief enough to see Patti as the mother of two ten year olds 11 years ago in Gypsy. She, and many of the other older actresses mentioned, are not reading young enough to believably be the mother of 10 year old twins. Now they could drop the twins entirely, but I think it's important that Miranda's family life be maintained for the character to work.

I’ve never understood the age thing. Wouldn’t bother me one bit if any of those women had twins especially given the money and power the character has.

Yeah, Meryl was 57 when she did the film and no one was questioning her being the mother of young twins. And the stage is much more forgiving.

After watching those 10 moments we hope to see-and they all were memorable and would have to be in the musical---I would just HATE[and I won't be] to be in the audience at any performance when the audience screams when a familiar line is uttered.
